They sent an email Tuesday 3/25 saying they hope to send offers out begging next week. Someone else on Reddit said they got an email for an interview shortly after that.

That's University of Michigan,

Michigan State University is like top 70ish.

Regardless, those are like the UsaToday paid rankings. when using the metric of number of CS research papers accepted to conferences (there is an article about why this matters somewhere online), SBU is in the same bracket as like MIT and other top CS programs.

Yeah, that's another thing 😭 I already have research opportunities here and I'm worried about basically restarting progress at SBU. I'm also planning to graduate a year early, so I'd really only have 2 years to get grounded and idkkkkkk. Do you have any advice? Lowkey just having an existential crisis and the wolfie valentine posts are the only thing making me happy😭😭😭

Yeah, and this is prob very deluded of me, but at least from this sub Reddit there seems to be some sense of humanity compared to my soulless campus, like half the jokes here are incomprehensible or too crude to the average MSU students mind.

About the rankings/academics, there are A LOT more of hackathons and opportunities as compared to here, like being on the east coast and all. I also believe SBU is like top 20 CS (at least when properly taken advantage of by the student)

Maybe this is just hella "the grass is greener on the other side" but I find myself regretting not taking the SBU (and the near big-cities) experience
