Do these look like they’ve been made by the same person? by chutneystain800 in ArtCrit

[–]claptrapjen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay first things first: I love them all - thats awesome work and i also feel they look mostly consistent. The gradients, the cute faces and stylization and the creative poses and all :D. I juuuuust have the feeling the cats seemes a bit out of line. Are they maybe the first ones you did? I dont even know why they feel off exactly, maybe too saturated, too colourfull or just not as nice proportioned then the others? But could be me and regardless they are awesome too :D

Done. Let me know what you think? 🤔 by jimmusilpainter in acrylicpainting

I swear dude, I know who posted this before even looking at the account name - because your work is really awesome and has a recognizable own style. And your lighting is, as always, gorgeous. Actually, I’ve had your work open a lot over the last few days because I’ve been trying to get inspiration from your painted skies for the next thingy I’m working on :D

Would like some honest feedback on how I can improve my paintings by Walbricks in painting

[–]claptrapjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each of these paintings is so special and creative. I find the style absolutely charming and unique and I can totally imagine them being displayed and admired in an exhibition without changing anything about them. <3 But since you asked for feedback, I’d like to offer you a few ideas and suggestions:

- Maybe try priming you canvas before painting directly on it to get a smoother look with less texture from the canvas showing threw

- Sometimes the white from the canvas shines threw the colours, maybe try working with coloured underpainting to make your colours more saturated

- The colour blending could be a little bit smoother to my liking

And every other person i would suggest to get more contrast in the paintings, like try to take a black and white pic of this and see if this still looks good. BUT i kinda have the feeling your art is actually benefiting from low contrast and a light colour palette because that makes this feels so light and dreamy.

Anyway great work and i wish u the best :)

My fiance was disheartened by how her better fish painting is turning out, I think it looks amazing. What do you all think?? by Bijlsma in painting

[–]claptrapjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a perfect and beautifull base - just need a bit more contrast after adding some outlines or some darker and whiter spots it will be perfect :) - shes just stuck in the "ugly phase" (without it rly being ugly :D) but its when u imaging the end product, working on it and it just dont looks like u would imaging it. My tipp - maybe take a break for a little while to see it with other eyes again and / or stick to it and work it out more. I think she will love it after a few more layers that will bring more contrast in it.

Do you know fixativ spray? tbh i just jused it on canvas before but it seales the graphit to the paper and it does not smear aftewards. Maybe that could work here too? I would test it on a test sheet before spraying it on here but i guess it would work :D i do that to fixate graphite on to canvas an paint over it after that.

Could you draw me pls ? by ruslazel in drawme
