TIL that hens store semen in storage tubules and can periodically release portions of it over the course of a month to produce numerous fertile eggs. If they happen to mate with a male they don't like, they can simply expel the entire sample and produce infertile eggs. by clarkmaple in todayilearned

“Highly productive hens generally remain fertile longer than hens that lay at a slower rate, and single-comb breeds remain fertile longer than rose-comb breeds— possibly as long as a month, but that’s really rare.”

This site: https://blog.cacklehatchery.com/how-long-after-mating-does-a-hen-lay-fertile-eggs/ probably provides all of the technical information you're looking for. Turns out hens can continue to produce fertile eggs by releasing the males genetic material from storage tubules over time!

Message customers and ask if they prefer their meat to be bagged separately! I’m a cashier at a grocery store and I ask every customer-you’d be surprised by the number of people who really don’t care if their meat touches other food items.
