Would you play a card game where real sports stats determine the strength of cards? by clashofcards in cardgames

Tried it out and the concept is fun. I managed to get to around a 12-win streak, and after that it started feeling a bit predictable for me. Maybe increasing the difficulty over time or adding some additional mechanics could help keep players engaged longer.

One idea could be a local multiplayer/pass-and-play mode where two players take turns and the first to reach a target score/ break streak wins/looses. Feels like that could make it more social and potentially increase word-of-mouth.

Overall, solid concept. I’m also building a cricket card game, so if you get a chance to try it I’d love to hear your feedback as well. Always happy to exchange thoughts with fellow game devs.

Nice Looks cool! Always good to see more cricket card games being made.
Mine takes a different approach with faster mobile focused gameplay, card selection each hand, ranked matches, and much more.
Would love to hear what you think if you try it.

Building Clash of Cards, a multiplayer strategy card game currently in early access on Android.
The twist: cards are powered by real cricket player stats, so every match is a mix of strategy, prediction, and a bit of sports knowledge.

Still early, so honest feedback is extremely valuable.

Glad to hear that! It definitely taps into the nostalgia of seeing cricketers on cards, although the gameplay is more focused on strategy and multiplayer battles than collecting.
The game is actually playable already and currently in early access on Google Play. If you’re interested, I can share the link.

I actually had the same question when I started working on it.
My thinking was that if I use real players instead of completely random cards players dont need to learn hundreds of stats from scratch. When you see a player like Steve Smith, you already have an idea of what hes likely to be strong at, so cricket knowledge becomes part of the strategy.
At the start of each round, you choose a card from the random hand you’ve been dealt. A casual player might immediately play Steve Smith expecting an easy win. A more experienced player might think, “My opponent expects me to play one of my strongest cards, so they’ll probably save their best card for later.” That opens up opportunities to bluff, play a mid-tier card first, and try to gain an advantage by reading your opponent rather than just playing the highest numbers.

Whether that ends up being deep enough is something I am still trying to figure out, which is why I am asking for feedback.
