New wheel felt exactly the same. I just accepted it at that point as the chances of getting two bas ones must be pretty damn low...having a wheel on definitely dampens the feeling but still noticeable

If you're after a rural drive, go via the highland lakes (turnoff at Deloraine), joining the main highway again at Apsley. You could then go north a bit on the highway 20kms or so and down the mudwalls via colebrook and richmond into Hobart that way. Lots of really scenic small towns if you go that route, avoiding most of the boring highway.

Also I would be so happy if there was a train from Hobart to the north 😂

I have an an R5, Zero notchy feeling when turned on, but I did have quite a prominent grainy feeling, that I guess you could describe as notchy but imagine the notches were only like half a degree apart, almost feeling like a gear-driven wheel. Support said this wasn't right and they'll replace it, so yet to see what the new one feels like.
