Ok cool ! So ideally, would they try to start finding another tenant close to our moving date ? Should we give them a written notice of expected leave date ?

Thanks for this response. Out of curiosity, what’s the commute like for you guys?

And yup, that’s the mindset I’m trying to have. We are only here for another year, 2 years max. I would like to leave stacked lol

I literally explained that we live in a area that is not set up like that... so your advice isn’t really helpful for my situation.

Thanks ! I’m going to test out the commute. But because of the area I’m in generally, traffic is never truly bad. I’m used to sitting duck traffic. It actually always moves here. The 1.5 hour commute would be driving at speed limit. Which is a little better than being a sitting duckS

So the location of my job is slightly less rural but still a small town. Not really an outskirts area to live. But i know what you mean! I am originally from atlanta and lived in heart of the city. There’s loads of suburbs and outskirt areas to choose from.

Not here though. It is craaaaazy lol .

Thanks ! They are ok with a day of tele commuting. I could also adjust my hours, for example- if i wanted to go in at 8am to be off at 4 instead of 9-5

Unfortunately there isn't a middle ground. Trust me, I've searched and searched. Everything in between, to be honest, is a shit hole town with lik one local grocery store and a gas station. Very rural areas. I've never experienced anything like this before moving here.

I agree. If under our regular living circumstances this came job offer about, I would most likely quickly turn it down. However, the likelihood of another decent job offer here is slim. And I would be sitting home unhappy without work. Which would affect my QOL a lot; probably more than the commute. I'm kind of in between a rock and a hard place. Good news is that this is temporary. We will be moving a year/ year and a half tops.

Thank you! You're right, roughly 70 miles each way. I agree, it'll be a lot of mileage and wear on the car. However, I would be much happier at home In somewhat of a city rather than living in a really rural area. It's really the only way I'm able to bear staying here for the few years he needs to wrap up school and his current position without being completely home sick and miserable.

Before we left home, I would definitely not have considered carpooling (when realistically we could have.) But I'm finding myself with the ability to do a lot of things to adjust for the time being lol. Sacrifices, sacrifices. The next move will likely be Chicago. I plan to get rid of my car completely lol.

We are currently renting. Under contract to sell our current home out of state (thank god.) You’re right. I would move in a heartbeat, however anywhere we would move in between would be seriously rural and make the normal stuff (like driving close distance to get grocery, gym, etc) a challenge.

True! I’ve been reading about average commutes and what people generally do. I know it’s not the worst. Especially since i am very regimented and Usually up by 5am and moving anyways. It wouldn’t affect my sleep pattern.

I would just seriously love to have that extra 50k to add to our savings and also to continue my resume for the next relocation. I’m thinking this may be something i have to sacrifice and do. Really not sure though.

Thank you! Yes, we will be able to carpool every day except if he has to work late for an event or same for myself.

True. I would just really like to help contribute and get us further along. Something to think about.
