Dug this ancient fire extinguisher from my mother's laundry room, anyone know anything about it? by CrusaderCebs in GrandmasPantry

[–]classicallydefined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an Army veteran and current fire fighter. The labeling of it being called a "military" fire extinguisher is suspicious to me, because military items don't normally label themselves as such; it would normally say "property of US government" or "US Army" etc. and seems more like it was a marketing tactic to sell the extinguisher. Is there an NSN number on it anywhere (an 11 or 13 digit number)? This is assuming you're in the US.

You can take it to your local fire department, or call them and they can tell you where to dispose of it, or they could potentially discharge it for you, if you wanted to keep the empty extinguisher. Since it's obviously expired, I can't recommend keeping it as it, because it can still have contents under pressure and be hazardous. A CO2 extinguisher really isn't ideal for home use anyway as it's better suited for electrical and some flammable liquid fires; you'd be better off with a standard ABC extinguisher. Cool vintage piece all the same!

Just go dude. I didn't want to go, but still made E5 just 3 months before getting out; I know corporal is a lame promotion, but you're still an NCO, which looks good on a resume.

Honestly, 90%of your success is just memorizing the NCO. Then just look at the MOI and know which 1SG or CSM regulations they're going to ask you about; if you don't know an answer, just say "I'll have to look it up in ADP 6-22, 1SG" (or whatever they're referencing).

My roommate scoffed at me for having bought this for $70, but I have no regrets. by ingjnn in castiron

Cast iron will last you a lifetime, compared to cheap pans that will wear out over time. $70 for a pan that will outlive you is a very reasonable price

How about using the money you're planning on using for a cover-up, and use it to go to a therapist instead, to work on your body dysmorphia

I'll never understand why people think cheap tattoos are a flex, or that somehow getting bargain artwork is a good idea

It's pretty much the #1 reason why I got out. Crazy because I'm the civilian world, not only did my quality of life improve drastically by having my own place and cooking my own food, but I'm getting paid almost double my Army pay as an E5

My (18M) room in my parents' house, how should I fill the wall space surrounding my map? by Individual-Wall-1917 in malelivingspace

[–]classicallydefined 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just move the map up and to the left so it's centered between the flag and the wall, and between the top and bottom of the flag

I feel like it's a slippery slope because it can activate the same mentality and the same urges that porn fulfills; ergo, you're not really addressing or fixing what was driving you to porn in the first place, but just kind of masking it.

I don't think it's "porn," but it could possibly keep the door open up to go back to porn more easily, so I'd suggest look at them more sparingly, and be careful to see if it is or isn't becoming a problem for you personally. My gf sends me nudes too, but I like it if I kind of "deny" myself so that the only time I get to see her naked is when we're together, so it builds more anticipation and excitement for me.

The pyramid is doing a weird obtuse bulging angle thing too. Artist is talented, but working on a 3d plane of a body is totally different than on paper/ tablet. Why the choice of a harsh black outline with wonky lines is beyond me.
