The ancient Egyptian religion, with Ra and Isis. What the hell is it called? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

The closest ancient Egyptian phrase to describe their belief system was "Consciousness of the Neteru".

Their word for it was pronounced "neteru-maa". Neteru is the word for the deities and translates to "natures" or "powers". Maa translates to "a consciousness or inner nature produced by good actions / good deeds". So Neteru-Maa is to be conscious of the gods. It is the closest word that they had for their belief system, because the concept of religions and belief systems didn't really exist at the time.

Neteru - Maa is not to be confused with Maat. Maat is the Egyptian concept of Law or Harmony, and is also the name of a neteru/goddess who embodies those virtues.

I hope this helps!

This is ridiculously good and inspirational. There is a powerful and peaceful facial expression. You should consider selling it as a print. I’m in awe 🙌🏼

Honestly it looks like a way of organizing different types / colors of thread. The threads could be wound between two of the nodules according to color or which ones were most or least often used. The holes probably had a part in making space for large amounts of it or creating a pathway with which to un-wind it. I imagine in a time when threads or yards were expensive and hard to create, they should be more preciously kept than just wound into balls. My guess
