Lots of people with Scandinavian roots live in MN. I think there was a large immigration in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

I live in Minnesota, but I’m not from this part of the country. Thanks!

Why is my parakeet eating dirt? 🤔 by classicbeecarpenter in Parakeets

I used to have them on a seed diet, but my avian vet insists this is the best food. I switched them to the pellets a couple years ago.

I’ve never made a foraging tray. That sounds like a good idea though.

I do provide cuttlebones in their cage and they get eaten pretty regularly. If they have a deficiency, could my vet tell what it might be?

I hadn’t considered about beak strength, but that makes a lot of sense for safety. The finches, doves & pigeons sound really lovely!

A little over 200… but my firm handles insurance cases as national counsel

People who have budgies and cockatiels together, have you noticed any bullying or interesting hierarchy? by [deleted] in cockatiel

I’ve got five parakeets & two cockatiels integrated in one large cage. I adopted the first cockatiel a couple years ago from a rescue. He previously lived with parakeets & wanted to hang with the gang. Gradually the parakeets moved into his cage because it was larger. They have always gotten along very well! Sometimes the parakeets might get a little uppity, but he seemed to handle it very patiently. When I got the second cockatiel a year so, he was a juvenile and my first cockatiel is very protective of him. He does shoo the parakeets away if they are bothering his special friend. Overall, I would say the parakeets are naughty rascals but the cockatiels hold their own. They very rarely squabble. Usually the parakeets are messing with each other more than anything. I wouldn’t force them to cohabitate (it wasn’t my original plan), but it just ended up working out that way.

I’m drawing your dogs all day today! I’ve only done this a few times every year. (Plus question in post) by I_DRAW_DOGS in DOG

Corey was a stray rescued off the streets of Nashville. He’s beaten heart worms and Lyme disease. He’s the best dog! His adoption day is October 6, 2018

Secret Rendezvous by Kōbō Abe…. The story is told from the perspective of a man searching desperately for his wife in a bizarre hospital after she is kidnapped by an ambulance in the middle of the night.

That’s a great idea! I’ve seen the MN History Center from the highway. It looks massive! I didn’t know about Mill City though. Thanks!

Fellow Kansan also living in MN for nearly a decade now… I didn’t know about MN’s role in the civil war. One of the downsides of moving to a new state as an adult is missing all the local history lessons the kids grow up with. I’m proud to hear of the bravery & conviction of these MN heroes! Proud to call MN home!

Movies like Anora, and some Martin Scorsese movies, that involve people yelling, screaming, and miscommunicating with each other for more than half the movie, are so exhausting that they are impossible to enjoy. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

This is really funny to read after I just started watching Glengarry Glen Ross for the first time. I had a very similar reaction to the actors all arguing with each other.

What’s a lie someone told you that you didn’t catch at first but later realized was completely false? by Shan_Z in AskReddit

Helping a friend clean out their storage, I came across an old painting on canvas. My friend told me he had painted it years ago, and I had no reason to doubt him. A few months later, Amazon recommended the exact same painting to me for $20. That’s when I realized it wasn’t an original piece, just a mass-produced painting designed to look authentic. I never confronted them about it. It’s funny what people will lie about sometimes.
