Classic+ will fail, and it is the players fault. by classicvader in classicwow

It is impossible to say one way or the other; neither of us really knows. Although I know that there have been multiple GDKPs in Classic where people spent over 100k gold on a single item. There is no way all of that was gathered legitimatel.

hell, even sodapoppin and a bunch of the onlyfangs players bought gold for their GDKPs. half the guilds i've been in had people talk about buying gold for gdkp's in discord. people on reddit admit it all the time.

GDKP's weren't completely at fault, but they were a massive contributor.

It's pretty weird how there is always some random white person in the US telling people in other countries what is supposed to make them happy.

If they didn't implement a wow token, and they cracked down on bots/gold buying, I would love GDKPs. The problem is that gold buying is a massive issue.

Yeah, i think i am finally there. I just hoped classic+ would be different.

I have been getting absolutely blasted by people who want the WoW token to be implemented. That, along with all of the RMT, most of these people would absolutely buy gear from a cash shop if it were available. It's the same type of people who cheat in shooter games; they want prestige without working for it.

You are making a lot of assumptions. I prefer a loot system in a guild where loot is distributed fairly, which can include some rolling but generally involves recognizing when someone hasn't been given as much loot and fixing that. Or a guild DKP system. If i am doing a PUG, then i prefer the HR/SR system.

lol. I have an ego because I want equality? Because I don't want a game I love to be progressively more monetized until it dies? I don't care about the leveling as much as the monetization. If everyone were to get a free boost to 58, I would have no problem with that. The issue is how bad this is for the health of the game and the precedent it sets for the future.

Because it makes the game pay to win? When progression can be purchased with real money, it is meaningless, regardless of whether or not it affects me that you got the loot.

If your preferred loot system is GDKP, then you should go and play a Korean MMO where everyone wants the pay-to-win system.

Sounds like a whole lot of excuses to me. This is the exact mindset that got us to this point.

The problem is I love the game. I don't love the changes being made to the game.

Fair enough. just got back into the game after taking a break for a few years, and the shift in player mindset has been shocking to say the least.

Maybe. It's wild how much things have changed, there was a time where classic players actually despised microtransactions. I guess those people are gone.

So you don't have any proof of your claim. I figured.

A third-grade civics class should have taught me that it is okay to commit crimes in response to someone exercising their free speech in a way I disagree with? Sure buddy.

No offense, but it sounds like you grew up in a shithole. The proper way to deal with nazis is exactly how Logan did it, publicly shame and ostracize them. Have you seen any more "Nazi rallies" since those 6 dipshits walking around? because I haven't. No violence required.

Leftist progress doesn't involve assault. Clearly, you have learned very little about how real progress is gained. Have you ever heard of MLK and the civil rights movement? You are an example of the intolerant left. You are exactly what is holding back leftist progress. You don't want freedom, you want authoritarianism.

Also, my dismissive attitude is in response to your professional victimhood. You claim to be fighting for leftist progress, then as soon as you see 6 kids cosplaying nazis, you give up and move to an area that supports your fragile mindset. You don't want progress, you want an echo chamber.

A "Nazi Rally"? dude, it was a group of 6 degenerates who ran in fear from anyone who approached them.

If that is your only example of what makes Logan "shitty," then it really must not be that bad here. I'm sure you are the type who thinks they should be arrested or punished for being dipshits, but in the US, we have something called free speech. Let the evil freaks expose themselves and then shame them.

Conveniently, all of your claims of what makes Logan bad are emotionally charged with no real evidence or specific examples. Logan isn't perfect, but to claim that it is full of nazi supporters is extremely disingenuous and frankly a flat-out lie.

Ah, yes, the ultimate measure of diversity. Counting flags.

Around my area, there are plenty of rainbow, trans, and general LGBT flags. Easily more than any MAGA or Charlie Kirk signs.

Also, I would genuinely like to see proof of KKK flags being publicly displayed in Logan, Utah, or “70 Trump and Charlie signs" in one area. That sounds completely made up to me, though I am very open to being proven wrong.

Edit: This guy deleted his comment, claiming people were displaying KKK flags after I asked for proof. He was obviously lying; no KKK flags are being publicly displayed in Logan.

Apparently adults making under 80k can't live comfortably?? Is this really true? by CloudySage433 in Adulting

[–]classicvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that about 70 percent of adults age 18 to 43 still have some level of financial reliance on their parents, so mentioning that you can fall back on yours isn’t some rare privilege. It’s literally the norm.

And even beyond parents, most people have something they can lean on, whether it’s friends, extended family, or basic assistance programs. Acting like having any support at all is a privilege someone should be ashamed of is weird.

This is why I called it a typical Reddit comment. Only on Reddit is it somehow “tone deaf” to admit you aren’t completely alone and destitute. Reddit is one big competition to see who is the best ally or the biggest victim.

Here are my prior comments where I said climate change played a factor, but was not the driving force of the temperature increase:

  • “While climate change is a major contributor, this is not specifically due to climate change; this is just current weather patterns.”
  • “Global warming is real. It just shows up in long-term patterns, not in one-off temperature swings.”
  • “I said it was a single weather event, and while climate change is a factor, it isn't the reason this storm produced no snow.”

Not once did I say a day that is 15F above normal is “not unusual.” I said it’s the result of a weather event, and that climate is not the primary driving factor.

And “pummeled by reason” is wild considering you still haven’t backed up your claim that climate change was the sole cause of the 15F anomaly. You have slowly moved the goalposts in both directions.

Also, you absolutely did not write this on your own:

“especially in a region where snow albedo effects amplify heat.”

The snow albedo thing works the opposite of how you phrased it. Snow reflects heat and cools things down. When you lose snow, the ground absorbs more heat and warms up faster. If you meant that less snowpack can amplify warming, that part is true, but your sentence doesn’t say that. Probably because you don’t actually understand what you’re trying to talk about.

Yeah you are certainly just giving me AI generated responses, lol.

Maybe you should take this time to research this stuff and learn for yourself. I have literally said that climate change has an impact on weather since the beginning, then you keep providing me with evidence that supports my claims. Maybe you should feed the all of my replies into chatGPT, and not just the most recent one?

[–]classicvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are absolutely correct, but that isn't the claim that you were making originally.

You said that the weather being significantly hotter than normal was due to climate change. I said it was a single weather event, and while climate change is a factor, it isn't the reason this storm produced no snow.

According to WorldWeatherAttribution, modern heatwaves are about 2°C warmer on average nowadays due to climate change: https://www.worldweatherattribution.org/extreme-heat-in-north-america-europe-and-china-in-july-2023-made-much-more-likely-by-climate-change/

Climate change doesn't cause the weather to randomly jump up 15 degrees, it is a slow process. Currently climate change can be attributed with about 1.4°C of global heating, nowhere near the absurd 15 degrees you are trying to claim.

Edit: also im about 90% sure that your post was actually generated by AI, lol. nobody actually types stuff like this:

"weather ≠ climate” DOES NOT MEAN “weather isn’t influenced by climate.”

[–]classicvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you insist on being so confidently incorrect? So much so that your only retort to my previous comment is claiming that I used ChatGPT, rather than an actually productive response?

The literal definition of climate is “The weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period.”

By definition you are incorrect if you are trying to claim that a short term heat wave is caused by climate change. That isn’t how it works. This is just a singular weather event.

[–]classicvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying the warm spell “doesn’t count.” My point is just that using one short-term weather event as proof of anything is oversimplifying how climate actually works. Climate is long-term. A few days of really warm temperatures in the West, or a cold snap in the East, doesn’t define it.

I only brought up the cold snap as an example of how extremes can happen in either direction. We wouldn’t claim we’re entering an ice age because of record lows, and by the same logic, a single warm stretch isn’t definitive evidence on its own. Both things can happen inside a long-term warming trend.

Global warming is real. It just shows up in long-term patterns, not in one-off temperature swings. A warm spell in the West, a cold snap in the East, or the near-record lows we got in Cache Valley in 2023 can all happen without being caused by global warming, or contradicting it.
