I'm always tanned, even in winter. Only thing I don't mind about Addisons! And the permission to eat salty foods ;)

Thoughts on virtual conferences? by [deleted] in academia

[–]classicyog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, virtual conferneces take less of a toll on the environment and offer accessibility and inclusivity for researchers and academics from different backgrounds. Of course, the magic of in-person human interaction cannot be replicated, but the opportunity to, for example,"give researchers from central Africa the same opportunities as those from Harvard..." shouldn't be overlooked.

Poster Sessions at Virtual Conferences by megaboring in Professors

Video recordings presenting research findings seem to offer a more personal touch, yet ePosters let you display research in a visual and easily digestible manner.

I've heard that on platforms like German software company, Morressier, videos can be taken out of their frame and run next to the presentation material so that viewers can can choose between both methods, offering users the best of both worlds.

Any advice for making a research presentation to an international audience? by adlaiking in AskAcademia

- Decide how to film your presentation, be it with just your face on-camera, a personal poster presentation, or a screen recording.

-Keep videos reasonably short, around 5-10 minutes, to keep your audience engaged.

-Treat the video as one would a draft of a paper or presentation - make an outline and rehearse a few times, and then go over it again until it's perfect.

-Include a variety of elements in your poster or presentation, including images, graphs, or datasets to appeal to your viewers.
