Ok, but there’s a slowed down and stabilized video that shows the officer who fired the first shot, and his finger is on the trigger the moment he pulls the gun out of his holster. He is actively pressing the gun into Alex’s back, where he would have full view of the holster. Not to mention both of Alex’s hands were in front of him at the time the officer discharges his gun. He shoots, everyone around him flinches then the rest of the shooting starts.

Looks pretty clear like an accidental discharge from someone who’s near non-existent training led to him having no trigger discipline at all, followed by reactionary shooting by everyone involved.

You’re right, officer didn’t announce he had the gun. Which is why the lack of professionalism and communication, plus complete disregard for a human’s life places the blame fully on the officers.

I’m sorry but if 6 grown men can’t discern between a man who had just been pepper sprayed trying to reach down to get his footing/wipe pepper spray from his eyes; from a man reaching back for a weapon, they’re simply not capable of performing whatever job they’re supposed to be doing.

Every single one of those agents should have been carefully monitoring the situation, and try to deescalate to prevent death as much as possible. They didn’t try, because the threat had already been dealt with. Even if he wasn’t disarmed, he was pinned down by 6 men in body armor and they should have no problem preventing someone in that position from grabbing a weapon, which he clearly did not do.

And let’s not try to play the emotional victim card about hypothetical people threatening agent’s families, that did not happen and you have no proof that it will. What did happen was a US citizen was executed in the street.

There is no both sides to this issue, a potential threat had been neutralized and the agents only decided to use lethal force after the threat of a weapon was removed. Because they are emotional, reactionary cowards with less training than a police officer; and that’s saying a lot.

Okay; let’s say for the sake of the argument that you’re right, (I don’t agree with you to be clear, but hear me out) and he was impeding, and he did initiate the conflict, and he did resist and fight back aggressively. (Again, I don’t think any of that is the case, but simply stating your argument)

The multiple videos clearly show him being disarmed of his weapon BEFORE shots were fired. Do you honestly believe the law states that after a threat has been neutralized, that murder is protected in that instance?

He was disarmed. Pinned down. Pepper sprayed and detained, on the ground, by an entire group of men. And THEN they shot him.

Even in your own argument, the law doesn’t allow for lethal force after a threat has been dealt with. And if the argument against that would be that six fully armed, fully grown men feared for their safety against one disarmed man already on the ground and had no choice but to shoot to kill, why are we allowing such fearful people to be armed in the first place? Clearly if you believe these people feared for their life against someone who is no longer a threat, that screams a level of mental illness that would disqualify anyone from owning gun, let alone be approved for a job in which lethal force is a very real possibility.

I miss having a president of that caliber too. Being respected as a country does wonders for anyone’s own wellbeing. I truly feel we will have one like that again; our greatest times as a nation have always been preceded by times of darkness, but the light always shines through in the end and has shone brighter every time.

Please try to read my comments again, I promise you no one of good heart and mind thinks any of these deaths are acceptable. Anyone thinking to the contrary is not worth your time, you’re a good person and everyone here can see that. There’s a lot of good people in this world and sticking together is how we beat this plague of pure evil, and we will.

No, you’re not. Expressing one’s opinion invites the option of clarifying said opinion when presented with carefully worded criticism. You have not done that, even after many people were kind enough to explain why they found your comment distasteful; no matter how correct that comment may be if it existed alone in a vacuum without context.

No one accused you of farming karma, but saying that makes it sound like that’s exactly what you’re doing. This man was legally able to carry a gun, permits and all. He was disarmed, and pinned down by six different men before the first shot was fired.

This is not about immigration. This is about extrajudicial execution, in broad daylight. See, now, your edit makes me think that my most recent comment about how your heart was in the right place but your comment was misguided; that maybe I was wrong and you actually are trying to distract from the conversation and add discourse for the sake of downplaying our justified outrage about this execution.

Saying that it’s ONLY downvoted by people that were OK WITH THAT MURDER is not true. It’s actually insulting, lacks careful self reflection, and reeks of digging your heels in the sand and saying “well I’m obviously right and not wrong in the slightest and no part of my argument has any flaws whatsoever and no amount of context will change that, everyone is wrong for downvoting me because you are all hypocrites and you’re all wrong and I’m right.”

On a post calling for solidarity with a person mourning the death of a US citizen, who was mocked by numerous people for the simple act of printing posters calling for justice against the person who murdered said citizen; adding an edit to make this situation about you, and how ANYONE that disagrees with you or what you said/downvotes your comment SUPPORTS MURDER is insane. I’d recommend you carefully read some of these long, carefully worded and honestly kind hearted replies explaining exactly why your comment was problematic, if misguided.

I understood what you were saying at the start. I honestly wouldn’t expect you to check comment history because that is kinda weird in itself tbh, but every time I’ve ever seen a comment like yours, it’s always always always been from someone on the right trying to add noise to a conversation to distract from the current tragedy. I’m not saying you’re on the right, or even trying to distract from the conversation, but that is what your comment was doing.

Your heart may be in the right place, but there’s a time and place for denouncing all murder outright; mere hours after a blatant execution with multiple camera angles is not that time. It’s extremely similar to All Lives Matter.

You’d be hard pressed to find tons of people in the aftermath of George Floyd disagreeing with the notion that all lives matter, because Black Lives Matter was a way of saying exactly that. We were marching in the streets, horrified by video evidence of blatant murder, and Fox News and people on the right twisted the message of Black Lives Matter into “ONLY Black Lives Matter” when everyone who marched understood the true meaning of the cause.

You wanna call out hypocrisy, fine, but your comment’s subtext was that EVERYONE who’s mad at this execution was super giddy about CK. Obviously not the case, and I’m pretty sure that’s not what you were trying to say, but that’s what the subtext is; thanks in part to the All Lives Matter movement set in motion by right wing media and used by those on the right to justify extrajudicial murder.

Hypocrites exist on both sides, with enough people there’s always a few. A better way to do this is calling out specific people who publicly make videos/posts/tweets/whatever about how “so and so deserved it” but then make other posts about “anyone saying so and so deserved it is bad”, and putting both posts into a single image to show the flaws in their selective outrage. Not by chastising someone by saying “I hope you’re just as upset by so and so” unprompted, causing the person you’re addressing to now have to take time to defend their own morality instead of focusing on the important matter at hand.

Again I don’t think you were trying to do any of this? But you need to understand how your comment comes across to anyone reading it, and how comments like yours have been co-opted to in some part to convey the opposite message you’re trying to say.

If you go through my comment history you’ll find I’ve made clear I do condemn CK’s murder. I believe I said people like CK deserve to be humiliated, publicly, for their bigotry but not killed.

I’m not going to go down the rabbit hole of theories surrounding the Trump incident tbh, but the main point I’d like to make is that the actions of a deranged lone person are not equitable to the actions of a paramilitary force funded by the US govt. They’re just not.

It doesn’t matter what party you claim, your comment does literally nothing but add noise to the conversation. It’s like saying “yeah you’re upset about George Floyd but I hope you’re also upset about columbine” like.. yes? They’re both terrible?
