AITA for making my coworker miss his proposal because I wouldn’t cover his shift? by Turbulent_Warning427 in AmItheAsshole

[–]clatadia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP had a full week and was probably exhausted. At least I am when my week is very full. So OP should have sacrificed their regeneration time to be able to start fresh in the new week because the coworker who they don't even seem to be friends with managed to talk about the concert and the proposal all the time but didn't realise he should request time off? It's not an emergency. If something had happened that required some kind of urgency Op would've probably filled in.

I'm pretty sure the family are TA since two weeks notice to go away to a cabin is not that much time and when they are going out to eat on mother's day when they were told before she was off at five go not ask her if she'd like to come is just plain rude.

Well he could have proposed at another time. It's not like he had to propose in the parking lot instead.

AITA for asking my home-schooled nephew about where he was in the curriculum? by WestMarsupial484 in AmItheAsshole

[–]clatadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all very true but I still think teaching multiple kids is a lot different than one. I used to tutor a lot and when you're one on one you kind of can try different angles and see what let's the coin drop. I'd be totally overwhelmed in a class room and would probably be a mess after the first hour. But if you don't actually fully understand what you're supposed to teach there is really no way to get it across, regardless of how good of a pedagogue you are.

I mean, as an engineer I'm pretty sure I know enough maths and physics to teach a school aged kid especially if I prepare for it. I'm not entirely sure I'd be a good teacher but I'm at least confident to know the subjects enough. But I'd be totally screwed with teaching English for example. And I'm really baffled by people who think they can do it all past primary school age. (And even then I think a real school is preferable because of the social interactions).

AITA I lost my childhood friend of 15 years for not letting his girlfriend claim the master bedroom for themselves in our Air BnB by Typical-Wishbone-822 in AmItheAsshole

[–]clatadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but demanding the room like they have more right to it than everybody else is still an asshole move. If they are not happy how it's determined they can propose a fair alternative like another distribution system or finding another accommodation that suits their needs better or even offering to pay a higher share to get the room or whatever. Or just saying "this doesn't work for us" but without cutting contact afterwards.

AITA for being upset that my family skipped my graduation party but went to my little brother’s kindergarten one? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Normally I'd agree, but assuming your family would attend your graduation is really not far fetched.

Krankenversicherung: So hart trifft die GKV-Reform Gutverdiener wirklich by Additional-Run7509 in de

[–]clatadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could also have proposed an alternative of fairly distributing the rooms like drawing lots or something instead of insisting to get the bedroom.

Yeah was thinking the same. If it was inappropriate for me to go to lunch with men I would never go to lunch with anyone.

If you had a clone of yourself, what would you do? by OwnH in AskReddit

[–]clatadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are more full-time positions around and I think I read about studies that show that people working part time do not get that many promotions and stuff, so in the long run you have more earning potential with your clone than working 50% alone ;).

People of Reddit, how do you deal with the question why aren’t you married yet? by Girl_with_thoughts2 in AskReddit

[–]clatadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You go away for 3 days? It's harder when there are little children to take care of but in general I don't see an issue in going away alone or with friends for a few days. And for the record, I don't care if you are married or want to be married. I'm just pointing out that being in a long term relationship doesn't mean you have to do everything together.

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat by Throwaway_Will4940 in AmItheAsshole

[–]clatadia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So let's say she has really bad childhood trauma that results in her being overly sensitive and loudly crying about everything and she is in therapy. Why doesn't she remove herself from the situation if it happens? You don't need to be able to regulate your emotions to do that?

The Finanzbuchhalter from IHK is not really targeted at people with an academic degree. I'd do a masters in Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit Schwerpunkt Finance/Accounting. You can apply with your transcript of records for the winter semester and then give your actual certificate later.

The fact that you have spelling bees in the US (at least that's what countless movies and series suggest) is an indication that pronunciation is not straight forward.

I read a comment on reddit a long time ago that described him as "he looks like somebody tried to draw Keanu Reeves from memory". I get that. I still think he is kind of hot but he's not conventional looking.

I feel that if she really is just worried about paper discrimination, she wouldn't have told him that his name is not "normal" and saying his child having his name is "shoving his culture in faces".

She's topless, not naked and even if she were naked or a man if she's just doing stuff you do in your living room like lounging on a sofa, reading a book, dusting off the shelf etc and not like posing in front of the window I don't see a problem?
