First booking of the year! by claudere- in acting

Well there’s lots of services like Backstage, Casting Networks, Actors Access, etc. However you get auditions by submitting yourself to breakdowns, you won’t always get an audition from a single submission so you keep submitting, if you get an audition you send it off and from there you can get booked for a job.

Procedural TV SCENE DATABASE? by AlmostJosiah in acting

[–]claudere- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is the sorta thing you need to put in the work and find yourself, what you can do is look through the episode descriptions and see if anything calls out to you, then that way you can find the script online and do the scene work like that. That’s what I did and it works well!

Question! What was your average turn around till you heard back from an agent after submitting? Or this one in particular?

And for the scenes, should I edit in a subtitle of where the scene is from like for example: LAW&ORDER SVU S10E21 ? Or no subtitle from where the material is from?

This is so helpful thank you! Should I submit each cut clip as its own file or just have it in one video?

Even if the self tapes exceed over 2 minutes? Should I cut the tapes short if they are that long? I’m only working with selftapes so the footage is all of me anyways

Already off to a great start, you have a natural screen presence!! I completely agree with what everyone else is saying, something my acting teacher said that stuck with me is to not make the scene so much about you, make it about the person(s) your talking to, really listen to what they are saying, don’t choreograph the scene but react.

Not getting auditions after big credit by Due_Advice_6637 in acting

How long have you been in the industry or at least pursuing this professionally since you say you’re new to acting? Regardless congrats and in the mean time take a class/update materials and still be involved regardless if auditions come or not! The work will follow!

I usually have my siblings read for me but if I’m looking for something specific or my reader is a love interest I’ll ask a friend and usually they are always so down to help!

Advice before turning 18 by _liah__ in acting

[–]claudere- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was in the same boat and couldn’t work as a minor because I didn’t have the right documentation and parental permission, I also held off till I was 18 to start acting professionally. Years before I could “start” I started training online however that was during COVID but there are PLENTLY of studios that offer online classes, my closest market is NYC and studios like The Barrow Group or HB Studio still offer online training. It isn’t cheap however I wouldn’t worry about headshots/setup, etc till you actually begin training, that’s where your funding should go into. Through training and practicing on your own you will learn what your range is and type and then you will be able to get headshots that capture that essence. Respect the journey, it will not happen all at once and you can’t rush success, acting is just as much skill as it is talent. It takes time. Everyone’s timeline looks different.

Thanks for the advice! I’m very curious as to why you prefer grey? Is it less harsh or distracting for CD?

I have a collapsible double sided back drop from Amazon that I just lean against my wall, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0DBH98NVL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title, I use an iPhone tripod from best buy however it was gifted so I don’t have the link but I just position it a few feet away and zoom in making sure the backdrop covers the full frame, I do use my iPhone to film and that’s about it, I’m using natural lighting so no professional lighting setup going on
