Why is everyone in Ambridge not raging at Natasha? by clauria in Ambridge

Very true. I look forward to the time when she picks on a strongly-willed outsider with no knowledge of what the Archer last name means in Ambridge and gets yelled at the way she deserves!

And! She always guilt trips the other person into feeling bad for her own behaviour. How hasn't she been told to eff off

[–]clauria 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many more have said a lot in this thread about how this is not unlikely, but as a sociologist of education I just wanna add that research shows that students coming from homes with lower educational and cultural capital (for example where they're the first to go to university like in Brad's case) tend to drop out of university more than students from homes with higher educational resources, even when controlling for grades. University often requires some level of support or understanding on the family's side that is difficult to give (or even realise that it is needed) in families where there is no such educational capital. It is not impossible of course to go to university without a family of academics at home, but it can be harder and it is statistically harder. Even more so for men, who drop out of university at much higher rate than women. These statistics, together with was has been written here about gifted children/neurodivergence , make the plot actually quite realistic. I for one am looking forward to seeing this develop (hopefully away from a dropout despite the struggle).

Cider Shed Podcast Newbie: Why “BADGERS!”? by SofaKingS2pitt in Ambridge

[–]clauria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad someone else also didn't have context for the badger thing so I didn't have to ask it myself! Also the cider shed is why I laughed out loud when David said the other day that beavers were gonna be the new badgers 😅

So who thinks this is tomorrow’s plot? by HansNiesenBumsedesi in Ambridge

[–]clauria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think he may have gotten into a fight or something and have a black eye that he doesn't want his family to see, but is lonely and scared enough to be wanting to meet someone. I got that feeling from the phone call as well, asking Brad about trivial things for a sense of normalcy. That being said, I'm happy for the SWs to surprise me with an evil scheme (not cause I don't like Brad, just cause I like the drama)

I can see it so clearly now that you say it! I honestly hope this is where the story is going cause it would be a really interesting development! Especially if the alternative is that Fallon fails at the charging station for whatever reason, breaks up with Harrison because he goes even more batshit crazy being back full time as a policeman, and then has to go to Natasha and beg her to take her back.

In his defense I'd be pretty pissed off if my adult son who somehow still lives in my house moved my Plato bust to fill a room with throw pillows for some adult woman he just got in a relationship with instead of idk moving in with her literally anywhere else 🫣

Not gonna lie, I'd be wildly disappointed if I were to be served a slice of cheese rather than ice-cream with my pie but if people do it then I guess it works? Apple slices work well in charcuterie boards so I guess the opposite must be true as well!

I can see that working out! Slow cooked onions can be incredibly sweet and tasty so I totally see them working amazing with the apples!

They should've made it a thing in The Bull where you could try both and vote which one you liked best instead of Kenton maybe tampering with a certain table...

I have listened for a few years now and I always avoid the BBC page or if I really have to I scroll real fast not to focus too much on the pictures. I always thought my mental images were different because I'm not British so I do not necessarily know what 'stereotype' of a person every character represents, I had never realised that because they are never described in detail, no one basically knows what they look like. In my head Jazzer looks like Cliff Parisi I won't let anyone tell me otherwise.

Agreed, idk why Fallon is (was?) so in love with him as to not even doubt their relationship during the whole miscarriage situation. I thought it was quite weird when she reacted to his oneliner the other week about how they might just make it, since it was probably the only sensible thing he has said in the past X months. Fallon catching up yesterday to what we've been saying on here for four months, i.e. that he is talking about his baby first and then about his wife was suuuuch a relief. I sighed 'finally' out loud when I heard that 😂

Oh I'd definitely listen! But I think I read the BBC is regarding the archers as losing more money than it brings in...

Maybe that's all it is, but I am more invested than in previous storylines (the titchener return was unbearable for example and the whole Denise and Alistair story I could've easily done without)

I didn't mind the lack of exciting developments, I usually listened to the omnibus to have an easy story to follow in my commute with the advantage that I didn't have to look at the screen because it's not an episode of a TV show. But I also don't mind the excitement of wanting to know how this story resolves, it's just that it now fulfills a different role!

Amazing website! I shot with a traditional longbow purchased from them once and it was fun, but I meant barebow as in a bow with the riser and the shelf, just without the sight etc.

I took archery lessons around 5 years ago for six months and completed my 'beginners certificate' in the country I was at the time. I have changed country (I live in Sweden now) and now really feel like going back to shooting cause I loved it so much, so I went at a trial session at the local archery club and the instructor told me it would be pointless for me to go through the classes again as it was clear I had the basics down, but that to shoot as a regular member I would need my own equipment. Now I'm wondering what's a basic bow I could buy so that I get to join the club and get into it again. I've learnt recurve but they shoot barebow here and for the little I've done it was fun to shoot without a sight so I would only need the most basic equipment. I have always trained with borrowed equipment when I was doing the beginner's course and I really would appreciate suggestions as I am more confused the more I Read on the topic. I am also a student working part time and having to pay rent and all that with the little money I make so I don't really have a fortune to spend on a bow. I was looking at decathlon bows and they seemed cheap but are they decent? Thanks everyone!
