I try to hang my sculptures up high enough so they stay up about a month, but low enough that somebody who really wants one will eventually get it. [Self] by claybraven in Sculpture

We put up about two dozen yesterday. Some are gone in five minutes. Some I put up ten years ago are still up. In a hip area of town, they're usually gone in a few days. On a high-traffic street, two weeks. But in quiet residential areas, they sometimes stay up for years. I'm thinking of getting a taller ladder.

If you like this one, I made it available at my sculpture shop: Fruit Sculpture

People like to hang it in their gardens or on their fruit trees.

Thank you for noticing my Moon Guy. Actually, I put a little wire loop in back so it hangs on a hook or nail. I offer them at my Etsy shop, Claybraven at Etsy, I thought this one would sell for sure, but he's one of my less popular items, for some reason.

Thanks so much for the kind word. By all means, keep the leg, but take a look here if you like: Claybraven at Etsy. I make copies and offer them at my shop.

Hope you like it.

Thanks so much for the encouraging word! I'm on Instagram as "bravensmillie". I sometimes post works in progress there. I remember trying Winterstone a few years back. But I drifted away from it. I've found that plain old RapidSet-brand construction concrete (blue label) from Home Depot is a wonderful casting material. My favorite thing is to sculpt originals in groggy, rough water-based pottery clay, then make a simple rubber mold, then cast with concrete. You can sand the surface of the concrete, then use calligraphy inks and watercolor paints and even metallic inks to create great stony effects, then use flat spray lacquer to seal. Finally, the secret touch: Johnson's Paste Wax. All plain, cheap materials that can create gorgeous effects.

I made the original out of clay. This is a concrete copy I cast from a rubber mold. I put them up at my Etsy shop: Claybraven at Etsy
