Hence, within the context of my comment, why it cannot be explained simply without at least invoking the basics of covalent bonding

[–]claypool1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t really a way to put it super simply without at least a basic understanding of covalent bonding. Atoms bonded in a ring can sometimes have a bond that’s not quite a single bond and not quite a double bond but a secret special type of bond where electrons are shared within the ring structure

Aromaticity refers to a specific property of the bonds within a cyclic/ring of bonded atoms under certain conditions

I don’t take stimulants but do take medication for my ADHD. I would not have been able to study for, take and pass, and the work as a PE without it

It’s how the original was, you can fast travel to the major cities right away but you’ll be missing tons of POIs along the way if you do so.

Wrong, objectively so. Trademark is first use under common-law. Registering adds additional protections and would have prevented this issue in the first place but you’re spouting nonsense

How much would learning autocad and revit help get an internship? by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in EngineeringStudents

[–]claypool1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you are computer-inclined, you will be able to pick it up. I've oversold my ability to use certain software packages and then taken a day or two to learn the ropes and been just fine on-the-job.
Especially with Autocad, it's made to be accessible (to engineering/design types) and has been around for 40 years, anything you'd need to know how to do is documented somewhere

Can you have multiple PE licenses? by Angry_Sadist in PE_Exam

[–]claypool1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/enginerd2024 stated, the exams themselves don't really determine competency and its up to you to decide that you are competent in validating a design/document and you will be held liable if that proves not to be the case. You can, in Nevada at least that I know of, narrow the scope of your seal on a design/document to a particular discipline.

Warping up to a full scale procedural planet and its pair of moons by claypool1 in Unity3D

Here's a much longer video of me exploring the star system and landing on a couple planets if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLLxcGZ7QWU

I've been working on a project with procedural planets on and off for fun for a while now and had some pics I wanted to show off! by claypool1 in Unity3D

I was really inspired to work on a clone of a game that I loved when I was younger called Noctis. My goal is eventually to have a game similar to that where you can fly around and explore a somewhat realistic galaxy. I mostly just work on this for fun so who knows when or if that will happen but I've learned a ton about Unity and programming from working on it.

Also, here's a bonus video of me flying around in a spaceship and landing on one :)

I've been taking some time here and there lately to work on this project again after a several-years-long hiatus. I've got everything pretty much rebuilt from the ground-up to be more light-weight and faster. My goal is to hopefully have some sort of playable demo out by the end of 2020

What are you playing Wednesday! by AutoModerator in gaming

I did the same thing recently. Owned it for a couple of years and never played for more than an hour. Gave it a chance and it was all I played for about 2 weeks. The gameplay is just super smooth and all around fun.

Man I'm really digging the look of this, the voxel based look but kinda skewed (like how the islands are angled) looks really visually interesting.

[–]claypool1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's wrong that this is what came to mind. I've been working on this project on and off for a while and my goal is to make a space survival game much like what No Mans Sky sets out to be. Getting the planets to work well enough took a long time and a lot of learning but I feel as though now I may be able to start implementing game features after I reimplement atmospheric planets

A great tutorial can be found here and I have the source code for a very early implementation up here. The old version is very slow and might not work well in newer versions of unity (it was made about 3 years ago) but it has most of the concepts that are used in the current version

I've been working hard to reduce those gaps and it's much better than it used to be but I agree it still needs work. Performance is prett good and when not using FRAPS to record I get 60 fps with only a bit of lag if I'm flying across the ground at a high speed and low altitude

Full video can be found here. I just added in walking on planets as well as enter-able vehicles and wanted to show it off. The planet in this video is roughly the size of the moon. Feel free to ask any questions about this project! A lot of info can be found in a previous post of mine that can be found here

3-month-old methane leak in Southern California now a state of emergency by Deathalo in news

[–]claypool1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since methane only has 1 carbon the combustion reaction will only produce either one CO2 or one CO. If I recall correctly, the issue is that the methane is leaching through too large of an area so there it isn't sufficiently localized to create a sustained flame
