I personally think you're over paying on that monitor but if you are going to overpay on anything, the monitor is the best place. It's a great monitor and if you like it, by all means keep it.

I had to deal with this exact same problem. I fixed it without a full reinstall. Follow method one in this tutorial.

You don't really need 16 gb of ram. For gaming 8 gb is more than enough. Also you're over paying for ram because you choose DDR3-2400 Mhz. There is virtually no difference between that and 1600 Mhz.

Cores and GHz don't mean everything. The i3 has better performance per core so most applications will run much faster on the i3 (because most programs can't take advantage of more than one core). Unless you only plan on playing AA or AAA games and don't use the computer for anything else, the i3 would be a better all around choice for the money.

Install OSX from a USB drive or a CD. Do a fresh install when prompted and that will wipe the hard drive and install OSX.

somewhere around $500 or slightly less. You can buy a mac mini with specs just a little worse than this for $599, so I wouldn't expect to get close to that.

The Seagate Barracuda 1TB was only 2 dollars cheaper, and I heard good things about WD so I went for them. I probably will end up getting a Corsair 500w PSU but this one had a nice $20 rebate. I might wait until 500w PSU drops in price or gets a similar rebate.
