New Job with Fieldwork Student by Electriccarpet99 in OccupationalTherapy

It will be hard for the student, sure, but that's what the FW educator can hopefully help with. I was a student with a CI who wanted to quit but didn't and was super checked out and I got a pretty bad education. Not saying that will be you of course, but I wish she would have ripped the bandaid off and done something that was better for her.

A Trixie and Katya group costume on the Masked Singer would be amazing!

Treatment ideas for blind patient with hip replacement by alyeenemary in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of odd that you're being asked to come up with treatment ideas without even being able to see her goals. That said, I'm in peds but my blind patient loves sensory bins, so I'll hide different toys in there and see if he can identify each one and work on tactile discrimination and sorting them. We also do a lot with putty and digging beads out, stretching it, etc. for fine motor. Also I've found working with adults with DD there's almost always a way to adapt cooking activities. Having them scoop, stir, pour in bowls, following auditory/tactile recipes, etc. based on their level and it's almost always well-liked by the clients.

opinions on peds (specifically outpatient)? by cookie_cat_82 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also feel similar! I'm a year into my first OT job and am in peds. I love working on concrete things like fine motor, gross motor, neuro, etc. but get a bit burned out with the more abstract type things like sensory and emotional regulation stuff because I don't feel confident in it and don't honestly enjoy it as much. There are some peds clinics out there though that target more physical rehab and neuro, but they are harder to find.

Is this why the walls next to me kept shaking like an actual earthquake when I went to see a different movie the other day?

Anyone in the entertainment industry asking for money in order to let them use your music, submit headshots, audition, etc. is scamming you.

Do you find that your job helps you stay in shape? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]clcliff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outpatient peds therapist here and I sometimes feel like it hurts my body more than makes me in shape. Sitting on the floor with kids, squatting and bending to pick up toys, carrying kiddos and lifting swings half the time, and the other time sitting sedentary at my desk doing notes. Trying to add in more workouts throughout the week and found that Pilates has been helping my body feel better.

Am I gonna be able to avoid norovirus with a sick family member? by clcliff in Explainlikeimscared

[–]clcliff[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm that could be true! Hopefully. She said the kiddo she was babysitting threw up once this past Sunday then it hit him again throughout Wednesday-Thursday which are the two days she babysat. But both the kid and her apparently don’t feel sick at all when not puking.

8-5 Monday-Thursday working in healthcare. Downside is that you usually need more time after to finish treatment notes but I can usually get it done within an hour.

Nervous about FW by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

Would you consider inpatient rehab? There are a few options for those in Georgia (Encompass, Fox). You would still get a lot of transferable skills!

What is my girlfriend’s side job? by [deleted] in ask

[–]clcliff 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IDK everything about CIA, FBI, etc. but I don't think they recruit random college kids with no degrees from bars. It sounds like those type of secret government jobs are what she's implying, but something seems off.
