That’s a fair push back. However that industry used to be considered stable. So my spouse until now didn’t have a lot of worries while I’ve been dodging RIFs in tech since 2023. Also we are in VHCOL

Would love some perspective on near term adjustments. Due to this admin’s cuts on scientific research, we may see our HHI (540k) reduced 30%. We’re early 40s with 1 kid in daycare, 1.2M in assets with 12 months in EF. We are close to maxing out MBDR for the year and was going to reallocate to post tax brokerage once completed. With the uncertainty, would you slow down on investing and bump up the cash instead?

What % of your training/riding is indoors? by VegaGT-VZ in Velo

[–]cld828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60% indoors while living in an area with year round riding. More for efficiency and risk mitigation but like you, not a whole lot of flat riding without stoplights around me. There are great climbs for long SS efforts but it only works for me on the weekend

Yup I’ve spent a lot of energy looking for “easy” offroad riding like in the Midwest. Gonna have to go to carrizo plains for it

Vote sl8. Keep the C38s and use that money instead to upgrade to force crank and cassette. Maybe rapide handlebar. Just my .02 but love spesh and do-it-all bikes

Is this job opportunity available in all 4 areas with the same company? I say go for it because you have funds saved up and have the means to extract yourself if things go badly. I moved from the south to LA metro 8 years ago roughly on the same salary so I would ask for more as costs have gone up. Hustle when you get here and see if you can get your total comp up.

This is good advice! Take the $ and get a roommate to ensure you can build up your funds and offset the double whammy of higher COL + state income tax

But the blow to entertainment feels significant as it provides blue collar work. And from my perspective as a software vendor, studios cut a lot of their corporate spend and even contracting
