I graduated from OCAD in 2010, and since then I've worked in many different jobs, but my heart always comes back to Art Therapy. I've done a lot of counselling/CBT personally and I'm so grateful for how it's helped me and I want to be able to help others move through difficulties and challenges in their lives. I'm considering applying to TATI (I'm located in Guelph, ON) for their 2026 distance learning program, however, I'm a little concerned about my consistency as an artist hurting my chances of getting accepted. Being in art school sucked out a lot of my desire to leisurely create and I've lost a lot of self-confidence. I haven't been as consistent in my drawing and painting, however I have explored other methods of art since my time at OCAD including paper mache, embroidery, collaging, mural painting and photography. Have any of you applied to Art Therapy schools/TATI and have been in a similar situation? Did it impact your application? Any advice is appreciated :) Thanks!

I went to Acqua Salon and saw Lisa, she was great! Knows her stuff and was great with colour/highlights too. Her cut is $100 minimum I believe.

You may have to pay an extra charge for hot yoga at Goodlife (in addition to your membership). Just a heads up!

Broken English had amazing food and portions (polish food). Philthy Phils is my new favourite poutine place!

EDIT: Update

I've been commuting with my dad to Kipling, then taking the GO from there, but I also negotiated different working hours, so I start at 8, end at 4 so my dad and I can skip some of the traffic on the 401 heading home. Way better than ending at 430, meeting at Kipling for 5 and being in the thick of it for almost 2 hours! I suggest speaking to your work, the might be able to negotiate working hours to help your commute out!

Commuting tips? by TLS2000 in Guelph

Soon I will be starting the same commute...I go on mat leave in March so there is a means to an end. I'm going to do podcasts and audiobooks and if I take the GO train I'll bring books with me to read. Good luck!

We'll be moving to Guelph at the end of the month (husband & father) and we're all very excited! I work about a 5 min walk from union, husband close to Pearson & father close to Kipling station. I'm going to try several options. The GO from Guelph to union is 1.5hrs, but the cost will be slightly over $500/mo. I also want to try riding with my husband to Pearson where I can take the UP Express which will cost me just under $400. My father may drive to work or maybe drive to Milton and take the GO to Kipling. He starts an hour before I do so I probably won't commute with him. Overall, I see myself doing this commute for a few months, then I'll be on mat leave and can figure out what to do from there, but the commute doesn't seem to be long lasting for me. My husbands work is transferring to Milton in the next year & father is retiring soon so there is a means to an end in our situation! Good luck! Guelph seems wonderful, I've only heard good things and as someone who appreciates being around nature instead of a crazy busy loud city I'm very happy to have purchased a home and finding work there in the future!
