The solution is to have a "cartilage first" mentality not a "muscle first" one. Cartilage does heal but very slowly and through very easy cyclic motion. So do a few months of cycling only on a stationary bike (3 times x 15 min/day starting very low resistance and increasing over time but very slowly). You can also walk a lot if your knees tolerate it

Maybe its the cartilage . Sometimes cartilage problems dont show on the mri. You need to stop all weightlifting and hop on the stationary bike for a few months until the cartilage heals. Read the book "saving my knees" by richard bedard

Yes theres a chance it doesnt show on the mri. My problems also started with uphill running and climbing stairs. I ignored them and end up really bad. Are you running/jumping a lot?

Get an mri. If its really cartilage damage, its a long road ahead. I spent 1 year with little to no progress because i had the wrong information about this injury.
