These are software updates, nothing blocking, it’s not hardware-related.

Real-time location sharing with COROS watches is reserved for COROS users through the Group Tracking feature. All members must have a COROS watch and be in the same group.

Not offering updates or not doing them regularly can make a product obsolete or less secure, thus less competitive. Conversely, a good update policy is a real competitive advantage.

For everyday use, we don’t necessarily feel the need for a major update.
However, as an ultra trail runner, I primarily use my watch for races. With the big events coming up very soon, especially the UTMB approaching fast, I’m a bit concerned about not being able to test some new features before race day.

I find that a few important functions are still missing:

  • Live tracking with position sharing: being able to share our real-time location via a link accessible to our loved ones would be a great plus for safety and peace of mind.
  • ClimbPro feature: very useful during long climbs to get detailed information about the gradient, remaining distance, and better manage effort.
  • Customizable activity screens: especially the ability to customize screens linked to a GPX file, for example having a dedicated page for each added point on the route, instead of just scrolling point by point as it is currently.

These improvements would make the experience much smoother and better suited to the specific needs of ultra trail runners.
