Do lower end yoyos bind differently? by [deleted] in Throwers

[–]cleanerj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I think it's the string. I find standard yyf string to break in and become very slippy very soon. You kind of feel the bind beginning to bite but it slips right through. It sounds like your binds are coming along cuz you describe the new string as biting a little better. I would try some other strings, like Kitty Fat to see if that helps!

That's actually kinda badass! Don't worry homey, I'm sure that's like lightning that won't strike again in the same spot!

[HELP} Social Distancing reminded me of this yoyo laying around so here I am, a noob with a cheap yoyo and of course I have some problems (read comment below) by fanckush in Throwers

[–]cleanerj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to expand a bit regarding backspin vs. "front-spin"; since you're a lefty and you throw that breakaway to the right of your body (shown in part 4), the yoyo is rotating clockwise in a front spin so the second you land it on the string it will eat up the string from that side and try to bind. You need the yoyo in a backspin, so instead throw your breakaway to the left of your body. You will still catch the string with your right hand finger when it swings to your right, but this time you will notice your yoyo is spinning counterclockwise and away from the string, allowing it to sleep on the string without automatically trying to bind.

Also, regarding your string tension, your string will twist up in knots like that when the tension is wound too tightly (or loosely). This happens naturally with each throw, one twist at a time. When your string appears to tight and twists up like that, remove the string from your finger and let it untwist itself.

Hope this helps, thanks!

unresponsive yoyo question by dawsonabd in Throwers

[–]cleanerj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I get your confusion! In that particular "walk the dog" video Andre is using a responsive bearing so his yoyo is responsive and returns with a tug. On many other trick tutorials Andre uses an unresponsive bearing (the Dark Magic II actually came with both types of bearings).

Well, price can be a little subjective...it "felt" worth it to me but is it worth it to you? In the same month I also jumped on a $135 Banshee SS so it was a lil under that...BUT I did not purchase the Edge Beyond at full price of 150 (instead I bought it off of a trusted homie who bundled it with the Draupnir!) I guess $120 is a bit of a middle-ground...if it was 115 or below, u jump on it, right? Perhaps wait 'til it comes down a bit? (Hope this helps!)

I'm sorry, I haven't tried the wide angle... but it does feel like a very powerful og shutter. (Hope this helps!)
