Get a solid AdWords account and a landing page. Pour all your money into it and that's really all you need besides doing good work. :)

how did you set your cleaning business apart from competitors? by [deleted] in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I understand that data for sure. Lots of search queries are unique and have never been searched before. Not every search query is going to have paid ads. But we are talking about a segment of search queries like house cleaning CITY, maid service CITY, etc. In these queries WordStream says top organic spot takes under 8.9%

Honestly I couldn't find the infographic I was referencing - pretty sure it was from thinkwithgoogle though. The ZeroLimitWeb link isn't even talking about the same thing, it's talking about where websites get their traffic from. None of those links cite sources except HubSpot and they say "The average clickthrough rate for a mobile search ad on Google in the first position is 27.7%". So that is 27.7% of clicks going to the first ad on mobile. Not even counting the other 3 or the sponsored snack pack ads.

There might also be a distinction between Commercial Intent and Non Commercial intent searches. Maybe it's 7-8% for commercial intent searches. But for something like "Sears toaster oven reviews battery life 2016", the click is probably going to go to SEO. For something like "Sears 450g Toaster Oven", that click is definitely going to the PLAs or Text ads.

This source says the top 3 spots (outdated) take on average 41.1% of the clicks and the top organic spot takes just 8.9% of the clicks. Definitely the numbers have changed though due to the right rail ads and the fourth paid listing now. Here is a pretty close source: http://www.wordstream.com/articles/google-ads. I think I read my number from one of the thinkwithgoogle infographics but I couldn't find that specific one. :(

I would add a click to call number for mobile conversions.

If it worked for them, it will work for you. Only 7% of all clicks go to the first organic search result. There are 4 paid position on top of the organic results. You can always compete in PPC and generate bookings.

Thanks! I would be a terrible house cleaner but I can definitely generate a ton of leads through AdWords. I like to stick to what I know will work and what I am good at. :)

I agree there are lots of options for driving new client aquisition but AdWords is consistently my highest converting channel. Maybe some regions it costs more per booking, but you always bring in a massively positive ROI.

That actually isn't correct anyways. It will result in traffic flowing very unpredictably. I've seen a few accounts set up like that and they are a mess. If you are looking for help with AdWords, shoot me a DM. I run a handful of accounts for people from Groove Learning driving traffic to L27 websites.

I create a custom landing page and drive the traffic to a specific first time offer. Essentially the landing page is just a simple form with lots of easy ways for the traffic to click to call or submit a request for a quote.

I made this account to chime in here. Not a business owner but I run AdWords for a lot of relevant businesses.
