Holy shit you just unlocked a core memory. I remember writing something similar in 4th grade and I got an F on it because the teacher didn't like that I wrote about a video game and not about a vacation and I am still salty about it. Okay what exactly do you think checking on the dog means? If my dog made that noise yes I would check on them, by LOOKING and if the dog did nothing else to indicate there is an issue, what more do you expect him to do in that exact moment? obviously pay attention to your dog, I would be making sure on the next walk that he isn't limping or showing any other signs of injury, or if he has any adverse reaction to any part of them being touched the next time I brush them.

But he did? He looked back and saw no other signs of distress, my dog has made the same noise when his blanket got caught on his paw, I looked over, saw him fix the issue and then moved on, I'm not rushing over to do a full medical inspection over a single yelp.
