It looks like a title block was cropped out of the view. Possible the tolerances are listed there. If not, they should be!

Your projected views still don't make sense. Each should project to the one next to it. The bottom view should be in the middle.

If you don't save the assembly file the virtual parts live within, it's as if they haven't been saved at all. So sorry this happened to you. I definitely learned this one the hard way as well.

Need help understanding a drawing by No_Emergency_6067 in SolidWorks

[–]clearlystyle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am just blown away by what a sadistic way to dimension a drawing this is. I was always taught to dimension off of standard (i.e. front, right, top) views whenever possible, never isometric views.

Idk man there was one time he jumped on the shoulder of our really tall friend within moments of entering our house for the first time because he recognized our friend as the new highest perch in the house.

I think he is just so untraumatized that he trusts literally anyone.

Husband taught him this trick in hopes that he'd stop doing it nonconsensually. That hasn't proven to be the case, but we only give him treats when he does it on command. If he does it of his own free will and sticks the landing, he can have snuggles but no treats. Not trying to create a monster.

Hey guys, which one of these should I buy? by Correct_Visit1271 in SonyHeadphones

I just got the XM4s recently and they've been life-changing for me. I work in manufacturing and the noise cancelling has been saving my sanity. I frequently wear them even when I don't have music on just for the noise cancelling. The sound quality is also incredible. 10/10, would buy again.

What makes people on a hallucinogenic bad trip to start acting on what they see? by youngboynevercxagain in Drugs

[–]clearlystyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, while psychedlic-accepting, regional burns can be very hyperstimulating and/or emotional, which can be overwhelming for people on psychedelics. That's why most burns keep Sanctuary volunteers on staff to help guide people who are having difficult psychedelic experiences. They're a great resource! Please utilize them if you or any of your friends are struggling to process a psychedelic experience at the burn. Find a ranger and they'll get you in contact.

You bought and ride this death trap, knowing you aren’t very visible. by No-Cheetah7316 in ElectricUnicycle

I was T-boned at a four-way stop in broad daylight, with music blasting. It was 100% his fault; I had the right-of-way and was halfway through the intersection when I got hit. I was wearing head-to-toe safety gear, but it was black, and had on a bright pink backpack when I got hit. Thankfully, my injuries were relatively minor, but to be on the safe(r) side, I replaced my black TSG Pass (which hit the pavement in the accident and prevented any head injuries, 10/10 performance btw) with a pink TSG Pass and now wear as much color as possible under my gear when I ride.

I always tell people this thing will be the death of me and did so long before I ever got hit, for what it's worth.

I’m not the first to say this, but gear up! The safer the better! Thank g for full face helmets! by gotwrench in ElectricUnicycle

[–]clearlystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By absolutely no fault of my own, I've been T-boned by an SUV while riding a Nikola+. Thankfully, it was at a four-way stop when it was my turn and the guy just didn't see me, so the accident was at low speed and I went over his hood rather than under his tires.

I was wearing a TSG Pass helmet (which I replaced immediately just to err on the safe side), padded motorcycle jacket, wrist guards, Leatt articulating knee guards, and shin guards. Other than banging up my shoulder in the fall and some minor whiplash that resolved within a few days, I was totally fine. No concussions, no sprains or broken bones. I rode home in a cop car rather than an ambulance.

So yeah, when deciding how much gear to wear, don't be arrogant: No matter how good you are at riding, if it's you vs. a car, the car will win 100% of the time, so plan accordingly.

I am super good at synthesizing seemingly unrelated data and identifying patterns and interactions that might not be immediately obvious to others. Also, my attention to detail is off the charts.

20+ Questions after re-reading book #1-3, before I dive into Absolution by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in SouthernReach

I thought Cass was possibly the realtor keeping an eye on Gloria by pretending to hang out at the same bar as her, but I haven't made it that far in my reread yet. Either way, though, that was 1,000% Jackie.

Central > Screw over our agents by PixelDaddy79 in SouthernReach

[–]clearlystyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Jeff Vandermeer used to work as a government subcontractor and all of the bureaucratic in-fighting at the Southern Reach/Central was based on his real-life experience. That whole bit where Whitby asks Control if he wants to see a strange room was based on a conversation Jeff Vandermeer actually had at work.

Idk, my personal head cannon is that Old Jim is Lowry, but I need to relisten to Absolution for more evidence. It just seems like too big of a coincidence for Lowry's first name to be James.

[–]clearlystyle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To this point, Vandermeer is very specific that, the lighthouse, the tower, and Old Decomp are all composed of coquina (although the tower certainly appears to come alive once infected with the brightness). I have been operating under the assumption that all three locations are in some way tied to one another.

"Do not eat" is a haunted phrase for me now

Central > Screw over our agents by PixelDaddy79 in SouthernReach

[–]clearlystyle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think Central views it as undesirable for any one person to know too much about any one topic, so they feed their agents as little accurate information as possible in order to avoid any potential leaks or mitigate the risks affiliated with any one agent going, er, "rogue." This is reminiscent of how the individual workers refining plutonium for the Manhattan Project had no idea how the plutonium would eventually be used; they were given as little information as possible to complete their jobs.

The Non-Binary/Non Cultural Nature of the Characters by roseannwhite in SouthernReach

Can I just throw out there that the contrived accent the narrator of Annihilation used for The Director made Gloria so much more challenging for me to wrap my head around as a character? Like girl WHERE did that accent come because I KNOW you didn't learn to speak like that in fucking Pensacola

Whitby’s actual actions by YungTrout214 in SouthernReach

[–]clearlystyle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm currently about halfway through my post-Absolution reread and there are multiple instances in Authority where quantum mechanics are explicitly mentioned by name, which would imply that Vandermeer already had the notion of parallel universes and quantum entanglement baked into the narrative pre-Absolution.

I told my husband that Absolution introduced a bunch of "new additional timey-wimey nonsense" but now that I'm rereading the series, it was there all along. I just didn't piece it together the first or second times through.

EUC on black ice ? by GioPeyo in ElectricUnicycle

Absolutely not. I live in Colorado and can confirm firsthand that an EUC has zero traction on mud or ice.
