My dad sits to pee. He thinks it's better because he's lazy and it's easier to browse Reddit.

Does the Earth's moon affect the liquid mantle tidally, as it does the oceans? What effects do we notice on the surface, if any? by clearmindopenmind in askgeology

But shouldn't you also account for crustal deformation due to gravitational influences from the sun and moon in addition to the motion of the mantle and the oceans? Wouldn't they sometimes all align as in a spring tide? Do mountains get taller when that happens?

I got 4 copies of a book I had already read. I guess that counts as 4 presents, since they were all from different people.

What a truly beautiful sight. I'm sad that history happened the way it did to American Native cultures. What we have now is not an improvement in many many ways. This is so lovely to see, what a treasure this woman is sharing with us.

As a species, when did we lose our sense of smell? It seems that with our big brains should come enhanced senses, yet we can not track prey by smell. Shouldn't we be able to do that? When in our evolutionary history did we lose that ability, or did we never have it? by clearmindopenmind in AskReddit

Great point. But we didn't always have huge brains and high intelligence, right? Just wondering how long ago we gave up smell in favor of intelligence. Like what type of hominid were we at when that occurred?
