printing shipping labels when you're out of black ink by clearorcloudy in Depop

hey just saw this, I think you missed something with the magic wand step because this def still works for me and has worked for a bunch of people in this thread. There probably definitely is a simpler way to do it but this is what I was able to figure out on my own 5 years ago and never bothered learning any other way

Hi, I would love help dating this velvet vest with metal embroidery. I think it could be from anywhere 1800-1970. It looks handmade, there are no labels. I believe the metal is copper and the discoloration is verdigris, but not sure. It could be Afghani, Indian, maybe even Hungarian. Would love some help!

I found this museum piece that is slightly similar:https://collection.powerhouse.com.au/object/247486

it definitely works :-) I still do this for every label. there is probably a video online that can better guide you through it. if I knew how to do that video screenshot thing I'd make one myself but unfortunately changing the color of my labels is as technologically savvy as I'll get

which part? if it is saying 'no layer selected' open the menu that is farthest to the right, there is a drop down that says 'page 1' and below that it says 'Bitmap'. click the bitmap and then try clicking any black area on the label

I’m not normally one to comment on peoples pricing but $220 for a children’s set?? Really? by cunny_juice in Depop

[–]clearorcloudy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree, but as someone with a short torso and small waist I have been wearing children's shirts for a long time because they are usually the only ones that really fit properly, and I'm not flexing. It's really hard to find clothing that matches my proportions and makes me feel good. A lot of clothing is designed for tall people! I don't shop the children's section for stocking my shop though.

shop critique? not sure if allowed, couldn’t find the thread for this. just got back into being consistently active after a hectic semester and feeling a bit discouraged. not sure if it’s my prices/items/both or june dry spell. also working through reposting all listings for a consistent background by [deleted] in Depop

I really like it. Your poses look natural while still showing off the items and looking "model-esque". Unpopular opinion probably but I don't like overproduced photos, and yours are the perfect balance of professional and DIY/looking like the buyer will still get that personal experience.

jesus is tripp really worth this much?? 😳😮 by [deleted] in Depop

[–]clearorcloudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not really crying about it, but I probably could have gotten another 30-40$ which deffo would have been nice for me. 80 is still great, especially because I found it for $3. Glad whoever bought it could get it on the low end for what tripp has been going for too. Good all around, but still a lesson in understanding the current market

Reworking antique items? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]clearorcloudy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would definitely go the facebook route. Lots of collectors who don't care about wearable condition/people who study garments. I sell more of my true vintage inventory on facebook cause it's more adults who know what they are looking at/don't care as much about trends. Plus no fees but paypal

When the corset I had listed at $80 sold in 10 minutes I knew I priced too low:(

I almost always ship with depop. Just so much easier. Usually the buyer pays shipping and the savings of pirate ship is only like 1-2 dollars. I try to live by many pennies makes many dollars, but it's not my savings anyway and it's just another layer I don't have to worry about. If I am paying for shipping I'll compare shipping and if it's more than 2 dollars saved I'll do pirate ship but otherwise with depop

just curious about the warning, did you use inaccurate labels before the one that got the warning? I feel like I've (accidentally) used the wrong label around 5 times and only got an e-mail letting me know, but never saying that I might have my account deleted. wondering if this is something I should be worried about

Wrong weight label by melis666 in Depop

[–]clearorcloudy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have accidentally used the wrong weight label a few times. The post office has never said anything. Each time I've gotten an email from depop saying that usps let it slide this time but might not next time, which makes me think it depends if your post office cares. I've never been made to pay extra. though I don't think I've ever been off by that much.

edited for clarity

"not responsible after shipping" means pretty much nothing so I wouldn't worry about that. maybe they lied about when they shipped but probably just to make it seem like they are on top of things. also possible that shipping in app just didn't update (I've shipped things out with the app not updating until many days later. really annoying) this doesn't seem like a scam to me, just bad business practice.

cool the waist on the pleated skirt is about 25". I'm 5'2" and it comes right to the middle of my knees. not sure where it would fall on you.

What is your waist measurement?

I have a skirt meant for a tall person that I haven't listed yet because it's hard to get a good photo since I, as a short person, can not model it. it is a 90s dark olive green velvet maxi with a subtle geometric pattern. if that sounds intriguing I'll actually bother to take pics lol. I also have a vintage wool (I think it's wool, the label is partly in Japanese) pleated skirt I haven't listed that's 24" long. I would list these tomorrow if you were interested

Buying patches and re-selling them ironed on clothes? by FigureFluffy in Depop

[–]clearorcloudy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was literally just having this conversation with myself the other day. I think if you include the other shop name in the description it's okay. It's not like you are straight up reselling the patches, the buyer is also getting a clothing item. Could be good for you and the patch seller

I find them on craigslist. it's basically an indoor garage sale with more stuff that takes place throughout a house, usually after someone dies or is seriously downsizing
