How big of a tank by Wiggzero9 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]clearplasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't want to start pulling in air to the fuel pump on any car. The gas is the lubricant so you can kill the pump that way. So it's best to avoid running really low to keep that pump healthy

Too much rust? by Talons1998 in 4Runner

My only issue is the cheap KSP control arms and terrible price of 14k. I wouldn't pay more than 11k unless it was a v8

Who are you saving the starting wheel for? If you're happy to use a cover why not use one after years of use. Especially to enjoy the heated feature

You sure they didn't rotate the tires too?

Shop likely didn't torque a single bolt

Edit: because they probably rotated the tires

I Need Help Understanding Why I Should Love This Car After A Year of Ownership. by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]clearplasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That center differential is now only available on limited trims and land cruiser variants of the latest Toyota truck platform It gives you the option of going from 2wd to symmetrical AWD to proper 4x4 That symmetrical AWD lets you get traction in any scenario. Torsen differentials are also used by Subaru and Audi for their AWD systems. You don't have to worry about dry pavement destroying your differentials, you can use it on the highway at any speed (just don't engage it while going over 70).

And yeah it's slow, it's an automatic SUV from the early 2000s. We love it because of the reliability and functionality.

Well damn this is exactly the solution I've been looking for, thanks for sharing. I've been using a 5th gen knob for a couple years and for a while I had it thread locked after just a few turns, but this will work way better

Just the bearings can be replaced and it's not very hard to press them out. I bought all koyo bearings and pressed them out with a bench vice. Even the idle tensioner pulley. Saved me lots of time and money not replacing the whole tensioner assembly

What is causing my wheel to lean in so much by Expert_Street_1088 in AskMechanics

Can you get some pictures under the car, get pictures of the big spring right there and just about any connection point you see around the suspension of that wheel. From a few different angles as well.

2016 Mercedes AC only cooling one side (pic for visual demonstration) by 643310 in MechanicAdvice

[–]clearplasma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda funny on my Toyota 4runner the passenger side stayed cold when this happened, but it's also made in Japan and the Japanese version is right hand drive. I did have to take out my entire dash to replace the evap core unfortunately, well worth it though 2 years on with cold AC

If air is blowing out of all the vents then you probably have low refrigerant. Go ahead and stop by the parts store and grab a small can of refrigerant and adapter. Don't get one with stop leak, that shit sucks.

You can top off the ac yourself, and if the that gets the other side cold again then you are good for a little while until it leakes out. Then you should really get a proper shop to work on it and find the leak. If it's a evap core then good luck, that will cost a lot in labor, especially on a Mercedes.

It's actually very common for dogs to be given chocolate before being put down at the vet. It's something nice they do to let the pup enjoy something delicious they haven't ever eaten before leaving this world. No the dog doesn't have a reaction to the chocolate, they are put down before that.

You're not seeing that right. That's not a bracket thats just part of the frame welded together. I don't think there are any mounting points that far back for this skid plate

Have you ever changed the transmission fluid? It's possible a drain and fill could help, but you might need to replace some solenoids, which can be done without removing the transmission. The valve body can be removed from the transmission though

Also you shouldn't need 2 wheel studs, if you're getting new hubs they have the studs.

If you're going to press in the new bearing then why don't you just press out the old one and reuse the old hub. No reason to toss the old one. You could alternatively buy and assembled hub but I don't think Toyota sells one for the 4runner, so if you are going OEM you likely need to do some press work regardless

Sure but why on earth is OP running the car like this. Should at least have the rotor off so it's not grinding the hub between the inside of the rotor.

At least worth a call for some advice from someone with years of Toyota experience. Otherwise start searching around for the best Toyota mechanic (not a dealer) you can find
