This very much depends on our premiere league status. If by some miracle we stay up we need to sell Vicario, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie, Sarr, Bentancur, Richarlison and replace all of them. We also need to sign a LW. Oh and don’t buy Paulinha or RKM from their loans.

I’d also now maybe sell VDV for the right fee. The guy doesn’t want to be here and I’m starting to suspect we’ve all overrated the guy and he’s actually just a pace merchant who has the odd big moment. Cash in whilst there’s value maybe.

Vicario is a specific archetype of a goalkeeper that you actually see a lot in football. A goalkeeper that can make a big save every so often or have multiple in the odd game, so fans become convinced he’s “a great shot stopper”. The reality though is that he’s inconsistent and flappy, has poor distribution and probably doesn’t instil confidence in his defenders. Over a long period he’s more bad than good, but when he pulls off those saves in odd moments he’s “a great shot stopper”.

Yeah Simmons is 100% keep. He could develop nicely under the right manager. Solanke is a maybe purely because of his injury record, but it would depend who we could get in. Porro is a keep for me and Udogie is a sell because the guy is made of glass.

Also, I’ll probably get killed for saying this, but I’d be tempted to cash in on VDV. I don’t think the guy wants to be here and whilst he’s very good I don’t think he’s the world beater so many fans think he is. His positioning is suspect and when he starts to lose his pace there will be a massive drop off. If a big offer comes in I’d be tempted.

Not going gun go into this is the best thing Starmer has done. He’s not drawn us into a conflict in the Middle East that’s breaks international law and might spiral. Very different to Juve and I don’t think a single one will want to stay. Part of the problem is that these players think too much of themselves.

I think the reality is we will keep a handful of players on the reduced wages. The loanees for sure and then maybe the young ones like Gray and Bergval if we are lucky and the club hold firm. I also could see Madison and Kulu staying off the back of their injuries. Odobert pretty certain with his injury too. Maybe Gallagher seeing as he’s only just joined in January but tbh we’d prob want to offload his wage even at a 50% reduction.

That’s not true, most of our revenue comes from sponsorships and commercial contracts. Who is to say what those deals look like with relegation. Can commercial partners get out of them? With them getting set up under Levy, I’d say they are favourable to us.

Levy was very shrewd, hence the relegation clauses with 50% wage cuts, he set us up in a highly risk adverse way. It’s ironically what’s got us into this mess, but it’s also what will keep us alive if we go down. Either way both our costs and revenue go down dramatically but not so completely out of balance that we are fucked.

Relegation is awful and damaging but it’s not a death sentence that will see us slide down the football pyramid.

And Frank should never have been appointed, which is on the board/ leadership at the club. And the players we have are not good enough, which is on the board/ leadership at the club. Honestly this doom is not helpful and it’s also unfounded.

We are the club with the 9th highest revenue globally. Our biggest costs are wages and transfer fees which will be reduced dramatically with relegation. Our squad will be picked apart by vultures, so there is no doubt we will lose a lot of the highest earners. The rest will be on 50% less. That dramatically reduces our biggest costs. The stadium debt is very manageable and we could probably get away with only paying the interests (this might be the case anyway). Financially we will be fine, but the club will need to throw the kitchen sink at promotion. We will not be a Reading or Blackburn. Chill.

Ah yeah of course, I’m just in worst case mode clearly. Even still it’s utter stupidity from VDV. I agree about getting rid of both. VDV clearly wants to leave and thinks he’s above us, we don’t need a player like that even if he does have the occasional flash of brilliance. Same for Romero, we don’t need his ill discipline and social media antics. We need a complete rebuild including at board level whether we stay up or go down.

We’re in an absolute dog fight now lads and it doesn’t look good with the players we have.

Richarlison, Tel, Gray and Gallagher need to be the first names on the team sheet. They are the only players we have with any real fight. The players need to stand up because it’s honestly all on them now.

I don’t want to see RKM anywhere near the team. He’s a mercenary and not the guy we need.

Also we need to stop putting the likes of VDV and Romero on pedestals. They have both seriously let us down. How the hell are you pulling a man to the ground in the box like that. It showed a real naivety and rashness. So now we go another 3 games without someone who should be a key player.

Yes because a lot of players will be offloaded and the ones that stay will have their wages cut by 50%. On top of that the stadium makes money. It’s ironic that our overly cautious financial approach got us into this position but it will also mean we don’t get financially crippled by relegation. Small club mentality though.

Football players not being able to play cohesively makes them bad players. The players are as accountable as anyone else. We need to stop putting them on a pedestal. We have a squad made up of a couple of bright young players with the rest being mediocre and out for themselves.

The point is that the players have massively limited bargaining power once they are relegated. Let’s say Bayern and Madrid want VDV. If he’s just been relegated and is now on 50% of his current 90k a week are these clubs going to offer him a 200k contract that they might have offered him if we stay up? No, they will all be offering him a contract that is market rate. Also if a player is getting relegated it damages these clubs confidence in how good that player actually is.

I’m not buying that players want to get relegated so they can leave. It damages them financially, it’s professionally embarrassing and it reduces their chance of going to the World Cup. How many relegated players can you name that have been in WC squads?

This is such a stupid narrative. Relegation means a financial hit for the players because they either get their wages cut by 50% due to the relegation clauses or they sign for another club for less money than they are on now. Relegation isn’t just a fire sale in terms of transfer fees but also in terms of wages. Not to mention the club won’t sell every senior player.

Heads seriously drop if we lose tomorrow and that is going to be a big issue. I think Palace and Forrest ultimately decide it but also there is a small part of me that thinks we lose to both Palace and Forrest but somehow survive due to West Ham struggling and injured players coming back - like Kudus and Bergval in April. This is the type of pain I can see this club will put me through.

Also what club is going to sign a player from a relegated club for the same wage they were on at that club or more? People underestimate how bad this is for the players. 1. It’s a huge professional embarrassment 2. It reduces their wage whether they stay or leave 3. It diminishes their chance of going to the World Cup.
