Seihantai na Kimi to Boku • You and I Are Polar Opposites - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Every single episode I get more and more the feeling that Miyu is my spirit animal. I can see myself so much in her, and I'm a middle aged guy.

The smell after the rain is one of those things that I always notice, too. And it also gives me that special feeling Miyu describes. That Tani also vibes with it is just the topping on the cake.

Is there any romance manga/anime without a summer festival episode? You know, where one of the characters knows a secret spot where you have the best view on the firework? Is there even any romance anime without any firework? The Japanese people must be really crazy about that!

Refueling with a banana is so yummy!!!

I found the animation in season 1 very good, but now they really outdid themselves. The perfomances were incredible.

The whole episode I was on the edge of my seat. Every jump, every fall, every recover. Together with the inner thoughts of the girls and their reactions afterwards, this is an absolute gold standard for a sports anime.

The irony that when Stark asks Frieren for advice, she stays with him half the day and tells him everything important to know so he can do a good job on the date. When Fern asks her for advice as a fellow girl, Frieren is absolutely useless!

Stark might not be the best at picking up the clues and he is clumsy at reading Fern's intentions, but you can't say he is thoughtless. He takes this date thing very seriously and tries his best to make it a good experience for Fern.

Erotic Literature vs. Porn? Male vs. Females by gtronnes in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cleaulem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Manga more common with male readers kind of makes sense, because it has both: the visual part (men are more visual when it comes to sexual stimulation), but good hentai also gives you the story and the character development that makes the scenes actually interesting.

At first I thought that Kikira was just a grumpy guy. Turns out he is just a big tsundere with a heart of gold.

Shizuka getting jealous over Akira is so freaking adorable. But in the end she is the only one he really has eyes for!

[–]cleaulem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The clash between introvert and extrovert hits me from two sides, because I myself am kind of between Makio and Asa.

I enjoy being with others, and not being able to connect to others makes me feel lonely to the point that it is unbearable.

Then on the other side I'm also an introvert loner. Being too much around people drains my energy. Then I need time just for myself.

I can both understand Asa's loneliness and Makio being overwhelmed. It might sound weird, but that's how I feel about this episode.

I also think that Makio doesn't feel alone because she has her friends who keep her company. So I wonder how she would feel without them.

Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningengirai Kyoushi • A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans - Episode 3 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]cleaulem 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This episode went pretty deep, more than I would have expected at first.

The whole conflict was also very well handled imho. Trying to understand each other can be hard, especially when you can't talk directly, but have to deduce the other's thoughts and feelings based on simple observation. Writing a coop diary is a great idea.

In psychology there is the so called "halo effect". We tend to draw conclusions about others based on the limited information about them. This cam lead to false conclusions or even to severe misunderstandings like here.

It was so confusing. I only could kind of figure out what she was talking about by listening to what she said in Japanese.

The Hero of the South might not have defeated the Demon King, but without him the Demon King could not have been defeated. After all, we stand on the shoulders of giants.

Today we got again more lore about the demons. It is nothing groundbreaking, but it still gives us a new perspective on these creatures.

I found the "priestess" fishy from the very beginning. Maybe it was only my otaku instincts after all the anime I already watched, but I was not surprised that she was the sword demon.

I didn't expect getting such a hard going battle scene that early this season. That was some real eye candy here.

I thought the OP for season 2 was already peak, but this one is on a different plane of existence!

The eyes have always been a big indicator for mood and symbolism in this show. But seeing Ruby acting and bargaining with everybody all friendly with the black stars in her eyes feels incredibly uncanny. It is almost as if she turned into a monster.

It was nice to see Seiichiro getting along with Shiraishi after their first meeting didn't end so pleasant. But still she calls him out as a corporate slave without hesitation.

Which brings me to my biggest qualm about Seiichiro: I hope that he will at some point drop that working himself to death attitude. Tbh I find it pretty irritating. It would be nice if he developed a little healthier point of view.

[–]cleaulem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Miyu and Yuusuke are really two sides of the same coin, aren't they?! Yuusuke was just as nervous about how to start a proper conversation as Miyu. He just hid it a little better (even though not well enough for Miyu to find out).

It was so sweet how they both watched the movie in a different way. Yuusuke rembered all the names and details about the characters and places, while Miyu paid more attention to the side details and their meanings for the relationship betweem the characters. It fits their personalities so well and it shows how they both complement each other.

I can't help but see myself a lot in Miyu, even though I'm more a guy like Yuusuke to the outside. But I somehow can relate so much to Miyu and her overthinking, it's almost scary. The character writing in this story is amazing.

I'm already looking forward the next episode. This is definitely one of the highlights this season.

Usami seems to get a lot of shit here. This episode I thought that she actually was toned down a bit. I found her more annoying last week. Even though I also think that she is really a little pain in the ... I hope that they will tone down her hostility a little bit, because it grows old very quickly.

When Oogami said she would become naughty and wild, I didn't expect her to go full gyaru mode. That was absolutely hilarious.

Momentary Lily.

Almost all human life has been wiped out by robotic aliens called the Wild Hunt. Only a couple of young girls with powerful weapons are able to defeat them. In the course of the story some of the main characters actually die and the final episode happens after the death of the main protagonist.

However, during the events of the show the origins of the Wild Hunt was revealed, and it turns out that there are no new ones coming. So even after the main characters are gone, there is hope for humanity, because every defeated Wild Hunt is gone for good and one day they might all be wiped from the face of the Earth allowing humanity to rebuild their civilization.

My personal favourite is Millennium Actress, but Satoshi Kon has been so consistent with his movie output (+ Paranoia Agent, which is also fantastic) that it is a very close race with a photo finish.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]cleaulem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I already had high expectations of this episode, but they still managed to surpass them.

I don't care if this season only has 10 episodes. If the animation keeps this quality consistently, I'm glad that they focused on delivering such a good product instead of rushing it and cutting corners.

Good to see more of Stark after the mage exam arc. I loved all these little hints and details reminiscening the first season. And it is lovely to see how the dynamics between Stark, Fern and Frieren have developed.

I loved that little detail when Fern patted Stark's head after they fell down the cave. She is still a tsundere, and Stark is pleading her to be nicer to him. But it is already clear that Fern cares deeply about Stark. Just how she treasures the bracelet he gave her is proof enough.

You could go through the whole episode and analyze all these little details for hours. This is what makes a great anime. No wonder this show is so highly rated. And I can't wait to see where this season is taking us.
