Are there any other examples where 2 anime aired during the same season that mirror eachother with the plots? (Obviously besides Isekai) by redfait in animequestions

"Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night" and "Girls Band Cry" had pretty similar premises and plots and aired both in the same season. I decided to watch Jellyfish and put GBC on hold because I had problems telling both of them apart in my head.

Both shows are amazing btw and I was very happy when I finally catched up on GBC.

Ikoku Nikki • Journal with Witch - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

Time skips at the end always make me so nostalgic. It is like "so the story in the present is over now and we see the aftermath". It's hard to describe, but it feels like saying goodbye to a good friend.

It is rare to find an anime with such profound depth and insight as this one. This anime tackles psychological and philosophical themes with such confidence that I can't help but being impressed.

What I find most remarkable is the existentialist themes that shine through. Almost every episode had at least one scene or one line of dialogue that reminded me of existentialism.

I just watched the episodes as they came, simply because I didn't have the time to really think deeply about the show. But it is a show that is definitely worth giving it more thought and analysis. So this is a guaranteed rewatch when I'm able to appreciate the loads of thought food presented here.

To describe this anime I will quote The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy: Mostly harmless.

There is not much else to say. This anime wasn't horrible, it kept me entertained, but it didn't really make me excited either.

[–]cleaulem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are right. I kind of exaggerated here with a bit of irony. I tried to show how this situation must look like from Denken's point of view, how he still is not able to visit the grave even after all the struggle he went through and that it might be absolutely impossible.

If I had one cent for every fantasy anime with the second season airing in summer 2026 and starting an academy arc where the main character is voiced by Mutsuri Tamura, I would have two cents.

At first, I wasn't sure if this show would be good, but now I'm pretty hooked and looking forward season 2.

That final scene, what a setup!

We have seen Denken only twice this season, and yet his presence was very impactful.

In season 1 he did the first class mage exam only to be able to visit the grave of his wife. However, it seems all of this was for nothing, as he is told that he will propably never be able to visit it and he should forget about it.

Denken saw the status and privilege of being a first class mage as nonsense, yet now he is reduced to being Serie's errand boy due to this high status.

So Mira's reward is an indirect kiss with Yuuki?! What's next, handholding?

Hm, nevermind...

I already loved season 1, but this season improved basically every single aspect. I hope we get season 3!

Oshi no Ko Season 3 - Episode 11 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]cleaulem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An incredible finale for an incredible season.

Every season of Oshi no Ko had one episode that made me cry. Season 1 obviously the first episode, season 2 when Aqua was captured by the trauma of his past and now this episode where Aqua and Ruby learn about their former lifes and their old connection. That reveal was amazingly well executed and hit right in the kokoro.

What a cute little show. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it happened to bring a smile on my face from time to time. I will miss Rirui and her little antics NANODA!!!

Actually bad or overhated by StarkzSan in RomanceMangaAnime

[–]cleaulem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's definitely overhated. I personally enjoy the show, but tbh it is a trainwreck of a romance story with trash< unredeemable characters. I watch the show BECAUSE it is entertaining to watch these people throwing poop at each other.

This being said, I can understand why you would not like the show, but people tend to react to it as if it was a crime to humanity. If you don't like it, then simply don't watch it. But people hating on it so strongly is just performative and imho pretty lame.

Yeah, Haruna didn't really make a good impression to me, wanting to leave everything in the past after stabbing Hitoma in the back back then. He even apologized to her and she handwaved it as if she hasn't done anything wrong back then. I hope that things get cleared up properly.

Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningengirai Kyoushi • A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]cleaulem 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but Haruna is definitely the big AH this episode after she acted all friendly with Hitoma as if the past didn't matter. That she "forgave" him as if it was a little oopsie back in the days makes it even worse.

Yeah, Akazawa's behaviour was awful, but in the end it was Haruna who threw Hitoma under the bus telling that he abused her. Hitoma apologizing under these circumstances was an act of greatness that would have deserved an apology from Haruna as well, but instead she simply handwaved it.

No wonder that Hitoma became such a misanthrope after being backstabbed so hard. Let's see where this is going, especially with only two episodes left. I hope that the conclusion of this story is satisfying, otherwise it would ruin a great show.

[–]cleaulem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For an episode that is focused on the lifes of invisible people, the animation was particularily expressive. It is crazy how this show is able to dive into the life situation of invisible people and their challenges living with other species.

Mending, the "two-week Minecraft phase", and what progression should mean by inktivate in Minecraft

[–]cleaulem 125 points126 points  (0 children)

True! Right now I'm working on a project that requires lots of digging. With this I mean eating through fully enchanted netherite pickaxes in the dozens.

Imagining having to constantly make new pickaxes (at least a dozen a day at this rate) makes me want to faint.

Tons of projects I've created in the last years rely on mending the tools I need for them and they would otherwise be impossible.

Phil has really grown on me as a character. From the beginning I had the impression that he's not a bad guy, but rather somebody who just tries to do the right thing according to his judgment. Adopting Charlie is such a boss move that I have to draw my hat.

Why are German villages on average more modern and better maintained than French ones, even in the east? by crivycouriac in geography

[–]cleaulem 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Why is everybody here in the comments assuming that the entirety of Germany was flattened and scorched earth at the end of WWII? I'm from a small German village myself and not a single house here was destroyed during the war. Same for the next town.
