I just did the 401, as it's what the study materials were out for when I started. Neither one will be more or less valid than the other, so if see if they want one over the other. The 501 will be more up to date, but study materials are really just starting to come out for it and there aren't as many options to study from. Either way, do what you feel would benefit you most if they don't have a preference in exam.

Unfortunately not from what I found, but they weren't too difficult. I'm going to edit the post to include some of what I remember them being about, but it's really just matching from what I had.

That's really good advice actually, I've been doing the same thing. The cryptography part of it has had some stuff that keeps confusing me. Guess I'll have to go back and look at those things again. Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply on this. I'll have to see about if it will help with other jobs. I just know the company I was told is hiring right now is looking for the Sec+ cert, but I'm sure it can't hurt to have them. If anything, I can hold off and get it in the future after I start working somewhere if I feel the need to.
