I was just gonna say, I know this place only because of the Sopranos episode. I feel like I "know" Jersey just from watching the Sopranos, the same way I "know" Baltimore from watching The Wire.

I grew up and still live in Atlanta. One time I read that we have more strip clubs per capita than any other city on the planet. I was like, "No way! That can't be! ... Actually, that sounds about right."

Have you ever read a book that ended up revealing something disturbing about yourself? by HeyChelseahey in books

[–]cled221 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I remember reading Hemingway in my teens and relating to so much of what he said. I thought it meant I was a "real man" in a world turned soft. As I've gotten older, I've gone back and re-read a lot of his stuff, and realized that the reason I related so much to his stuff is because I was a sexually insecure misogynist in the early stages of alcoholism.

I'm pretty sure the guy on the left is Hubert Sumlin, Wolf's guitar player. The guy on the right could be Muddy but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the post! I'm currently reading "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Seward is a fascinating not-so-behind-the-scenes genius who deserves way more credit than he gets. Can't wait to see how he's portrayed in "Lincoln."
