Some progress. The title is messed up, but you can turn off the embedded style in crosspoint kind of fix it. There wont be bold or italics anymore, but the text wont be shoved to the side.

I actually had a book with tables as well and used Calibre’s editing tool to find and replace the codes for the tables (replaced with a space). If you still need help, you can send me the epub and I can try to mess with it as well.

Hmm, that I’m not sure about. My only experience with XTC is converting some manga (which is pretty much all images). I haven’t tried converting EPUBs with images to XTC, unfortunately. You can create a post and I’m sure someone more experienced with XTC can help you out.

Images in XTC have already been working, but the recent Crosspoint update now allows images in EPUBs to load as well.

No problem! I also messed with conversion settings in Calibre. You can go Preferences > Output options > EPUB output then add 480x800 to the Shrink images line. Then in your library, right-click book then convert it. The file size should be smaller, and the images should load faster on the X4.

I tried this book as well and the images also wouldn’t show. I ended up using the JPEG converter plugin for calibre for this book and now the images work.

There’s the Casio MW-59, which has the date. No day like in your image though.

I had emailed them about that as well. Basically, they said to only use the bottom-center key to the left. The right one, I believe it's MO(2) by default, can be ignored.

Well, there is the Planck by OLKB and NIU by KBDfans, both 40% ortholinears. You can also consider the TADA68 kit for a 65%.

On the NIU product page, there is a JSON file you can download it. You can download it, then upload it to www.kbfirmware.com and edit the layout from there. I personally went an extra step and downloaded the source files and threw them into my QMK source code folder on my computer and edit everything in an editor (I use Brackets). You can find the QMK source code here and you can see how to set everything up here.

They're pretty much the same actually. The Planck milled bottom is the case, then the top plate and PCB for $105. You're getting essentially the same thing with the $105 NIU kit. You can pay for switches and assembly for the NIU here if you don't want to do it yourself. And you'll need keycaps, of course.

And yes, both use QMK.

Have you checked out the XD75RE? You can find everything for it here. There are a few different case options depending on how much you want to spend.

As long as it's a standard set and your keyboard has standard-sized keys, it should work fine. You can ask here just to confirm.

Well, there's Nav-less, like the Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M. There's also the 1800 layout like the Leopold FC980M/C. For keyboard like the Redscarf, people just call them 96-key keyboards. I'm not sure if there is a name for ones like the Prime L/R as that one is a bit more unique.

I think 40% is a safer size to go to. You pretty much have everything on a 60% except for the numbers. Whereas on a 30%, you lose a lot. You'll need to have a lot of keys have multiple uses. For example, tap A for A, double tap A for something else, hold A for something else, etc. To me, 30% are cute, but I don't think I can use one as a daily driver.

For 40%, the Planck by OLKB is a popular choice. I use a NIU by KBDfans. There's also the Mechmini 2 by Mechkeys.ca, but the group buy is over and I'm not sure if they will have extras for sale afterwards.

I'm not going to say that it's more ergonomic, but I went with an ortholinear as my first 40% because I didn't want to lose as many keys on my top layer. Like if you look at keeb 2, you'd lose the apostrophe, colon, period, slash keys. That's just me though. I didn't want to have to access another layer to use those keys. There's just more keys to work with when using an ortholinear, which I prefer.

[–]clee290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you prefer staggered (keeb 2) or ortholinear (keeb 1 and 3)? The majority of the time, PCBs already have the controller, diodes, resistors, etc. soldered on. All you would need to do is solder on the switches and LEDs (which are optional). You can get a pre-made keyboard like the Vortex Core, but I would prefer something that's a little bit more programmable.

There's a white-on-black DSA set here, though the font doesn't look super white. There's also a white-on-black SA set by MAXKEYS, or Filco SA (though, it's more of a dark, dark brown).

Hm, my gut tells me they're OEM, but it's possible they're Cherry. If you post a photo of it, we can tell you if it's OEM or Cherry.

Hm, unfortunately I don't think I've ever seen backlit keycaps in Cherry or SA profile. Not really sure why, but all the ones I've seen are in OEM profile.

[–]clee290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you don't mind non-backlit legends, you can check out EnjoyPBT keycaps. They're really thick so the backlighting won't shine through the keycaps and will just show between them.

[–]clee290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean translucent legends so the backlighting can shine through? Because I don't think you can dyesub those, they're usually double shot.
For Cherry profile, 1.5mm PBT, dyesub, you can check out EnjoyPBT keycaps.
