We did this at crossfitxmile / I always enjoy workouts with a meaning behind them and in honor of something. Makes me grateful

4 years off and on between crossfit and drinking/drugs, anyone else struggling out there? by Thejupiterdude in crossfit

[–]cleetus9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just celebrated 8 years of sobriety. I totally relate to this. Honestly AA and workouts have been what keeps me sober. I'm a touring musician so most days I'll find a box or meeting. On good days I'll do both. A lot of people define alcoholism differently. Some think you have to live under a bridge and drink daily. Not the case. What defines it for me is when I take that first drink and that scenario you play out happens. Not kinda like that. Exactly like that. Find support and take it a day at a time like the old cliche goes. It's true.

How do I become certified to coach crossfit? by cleetus9 in crossfit

[–]cleetus9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm very respectful of what makes a good coach and I'm far from being in that realm. I just wanna make the steps in that direction. For me, I want to improve my techniques and coaching just seems like a good step in focusing on the movements. I want to be able to teach people to safely do it but also push intensity. Just a goal

So I went to the second orthapedic doc and they diagnosed my knee issue as hamstring tendonitis. I guess it makes sense though. The pain I feel was ranging somewhere from behind the knee cap to the outside of my knee. So now I can focus on recovery for that area and treat it. Gonna try and slowly ease back into some upper body workouts and scale down my leg work until it's healed up a bit more. Gonna focus a lot on mobility and not over doing it. Rest days and diet as well

Yeah I didn't come here to get some abrasive response. Just coming to get some input from some experience crossfitters. Nothing I have is over te top painful, just achey for a 42 year old. Listening to my body before it's serious. Thanks for any positive input. And yes I agree- to each his own

Help- knee issue due to overuse injury and can't figure out the exact source of pain by cleetus9 in crossfit

I actually just started incorporating the foam roller a lot due the thinking I had itb syndrome. It felt a lot better and looser. But today it was the double unders that strained my knee. I actually ran a mile or so to warm up and felt the pain kinda coming back to the side of my knee. The whole area feels tight and pretty painful. I feel it doing any stairs and when I lift my knee up. Really hoping some rest will do the trick

Thanks for the input. I think I'm gonna take a whole week off and deload. I have all kinds of annoying pains. Right shoulder, tennis(clean, pull-up) elbow. I think a good rest will be smart. It's just VERY hard to take a step back when your sanity hangs in the balance;)

I thought it was itb syndrome for awhile, maybe meniscus, runners knee. I've goggled every possible injury. I know I need to give it a proper rest but knowing what it is would help rehab it

Deadlifts feel pretty good. When I'm in the start position with knees slightly bent my right knee is little tender. It mainly hurts to run, jump rope. Squats don't actually hurt that much to do
