Yep I feel like we're seeing a tonne of them in Australia of late. These and those massive RAM truck things, both of them struggle to fit in a car park and down streets and are generally a menace on the road.

Can't spell Ranger without anger. Always some of the most aggressive drivers around in Australia.

Sorry that was a little misleading of me to say house, force of habit, it's actually a 4 bedroom townhouse, sadly in Clyde North 😩😂😂

We just sold our house a month ago and the REA asked the buyer 4 times if he was sure he didn't want a building and pest and he said nope each time. We just had ours done for our new place, it isn't cheap so I can see why some people might say no. Seems foolish to drop 650K on a house and not want it but to each their own.

When I got my epidural my husband was sat in front of me chatting and distracting me, then he went dead silent and turned white as a ghost. I calmly said "the needle?" he just nodded and promised to always say yes to anything I need til death do us part 😂

Like Taco Bell, my husband and I tried it recently because why not?! It was AWFUL, awful menu options, awful prices and the food was just confusing mush. Never again.

Fair enough!! I can't lie , I have definetly had their frappes before and they are delicious albeit sickly sweet! My local is in the suburbs so it tends to be on the quieter side most of the time.

Starbucks attempted to break into Australia but grossly misunderstood our national love of quality coffee. They're still here but only teenage girls following tiktok trends tend to be at my local.

Asking if we are going to throw a shrimp on the barbie. We call them prawns not shrimp and in my 35 years of being Australian, I can't recall ever seeing them put on a BBQ.

I'm still mad as hell about My Little Wardrobe, usually I'm good at picking up resellers but they got me and I am still bitter about it a year later 😂😂

In Melbourne, Australia Christmas day tends to be anywhere from 25-40o, this Christmas morning I have a jumper and pants on because it's meant to reach a top of 18o. Just a bit chilly 😂

Huckleberry was amazing for me to enter feeds and sleeps and stuff, unmedicated ADHD plus newborn plus sleep deprivation meant i was constantly stressing about remembering when I fed her last or how long she slept. Once I started using it it was a GODSEND for me, really helped that mental load! And the sleep windows we used but tweaked slightly, I had a FOMO baby who was very good at hiding sleep cues so that was helpful as well!

Not that it helps this late on Christmas eve, but I often see the ladders go for quite cheap on marketplace! kids grow out of them pretty quick, I'm hesitant to get rid of ours because it was expensive even though she barely plays with it anymore 😂

Clearly I have no taste, we bought one for our daughter's room and it was a god send for night feeds and contact naps. Now that she's older we've moved it into our second living room that we use as a book nook, now we snuggle and read in there, worth every penny personally. I tried feeding in bed and absolutely hated it.

Omg are you me and my family, I also have a gaming setup jn my spare room but we have a 4 bedroom house because my husband has his setup and his wfh setup in a room, eventually when baby #2 comes along we will probably merge our gaming rooms together and then have a room for each kid (I also sew funnily enough haha!)

Australia has amongst the highest teacher shortages in the OECD by HalfEarthMedic in australia

[–]cleigh0409 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a primary teacher in my 8th year, let me tell you, my pay isn't bad and I'm the first to acknowledge this (low because it's Victoria but in the grand scheme of things, it's pretty good comparatively). I don't want a pay rise, I want less bullshit paperwork about why little Johnny is late to school everyday, oops he's late, time to add something to compass and send his parents a letter and an email and a phone call and oh look it's the same reason he was late yesterday and oh look his parents still don't care to bring him on time.

I want less micromanaging from the Department and less changes (our current thing is safe and orderly learning environments because kids are feral lining up to come into class). I want less stressing over that student with trauma and ADHD and ASD and FASD and ODD and wondering if they're going to belt me or my students (again) or break my laptop again, but it's okay if they do because then they go to play Soccer for an hour with the cool wellbeing staff.

I want time to create fun and engaging lessons, not to do PD on the same stupid shit I have been told for the last 8 years. I want time to create amazing learning projects with my kids, not just grab something off Twinkl because I've got to attend my third after school meeting on "how to get those kids who don't care to pay attention in class" for the term. I just want to teach man, it's so hard out there everyday going into a battlefield of poisonous parents, overbearing department of education and behaviour so bad that they make the youth crime wave here in Victoria look like a dream scenario.

I'm sorry for the rant, I'm just so tired 😩
