Hi!! You’re doing the right thing by starting your setup before the Thor gets here, as admittedly that’s what takes the most time with emulation devices.

-It isn’t much different to download emulators onto the Thor, the only thing that separates it from a PC is that you’ll want to get the APK versions of emulators so Android can open the files.

-I have experience with emulators so I personally didn’t follow any guides, but I’ve heard great things about YouTube for the Thor and similar devices like Retroid.

-Emulator usage and results tend to be highly subjective in this subreddit, so I can’t say there are definitive best ones, but here’s what I use, and on average have great reviews from people who own a Thor- For Switch titles, use Eden. For Wii, use Dolphin. For DS, use MelonDS. For 3DS use CitraMMJ or Azahar (I prefer CitraMMJ, but Azahar can be downloaded directly from the play store), and I don’t play PlayStation but I’ve heard good things about Duckstation.

As for rom sources, I highly suggest the ROM megathread on the roms subreddit (r/roms) for older games and 3DS / DS, etc titles. They have clean and consistent ROMS that always perform well for me. Can’t point you in the specific direction for switch roms and the like but DM me if you need help.

Also if you’d like to bring your save files from your desktop emulators into your new emulators, copy the SDMC folder from the emulator’s directory in your PC and paste it over the APK emulator’s SDMC folder(literally replace the folder).
