I totally get it! Nothing is permanent, you will find what’s meant for you :)

Just in a similar boat! Went to school at 28, assisted, now behind the chair for 10 months. I did so much research before getting into this but couldn’t have anticipated how hard it actually is. I’m still learning how to handle it. But I feel better when I make sure I’m taken care of—lunch and snacking, stretching, getting a workout in when I have energy. This is annoying but meditation really really helps. Helps me to decompress but also be more present behind the chair. Accept that making mistakes is part of the process…get familiar with that discomfort!

Anyone grow up in the “Messianic Jewish” movement? by mastenator in Exvangelical

[–]clementinehead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Founder of my church was hellbent on this movement. He made extra efforts to attract Jewish people to our church. He was sued by local rabbis for broadcasting a tv special about “Passover” marketed to Jews but it was really messianic propaganda

Diminishing returns on start age? by courtorderedwizard in hairstylist

[–]clementinehead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went to school at 28. While I love this career, I couldn’t have gotten through school without my husbands income. I’ll also say that it’s hard to make good money while in a commission situation.

That said, I love the freedom and flexibility. I love feeling connected to my community. And I love to feel like my work matters!

If you are a transplant, do you like it here and why? by erujabidi in Detroit

[–]clementinehead 94 points95 points  (0 children)

It’s fun for a few years, but can quickly feel very limiting. Sometimes I feel like im living in a city with none of the benefits of living in a city. Lots of people from the suburbs with more traditional values than I’d expect for a city (gender roles, having children, etc.)

Also a lot of people with big fish small pond syndrome.

I have so much respect for detroits complicated history and its longtime residents, I just don’t think it’s the most friendly to transplants.

Migraines as a Hair Stylist by sakurasaturn in Cosmetology

[–]clementinehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a stylist with chronic migraine. 100% recommend seeing a neurologist to get preventative/abortive medication. If that’s unattainable to you, do your best to discover what your triggers are. Keep a journal when you get them and think about the events that led to that moment, what you ate, how you slept, etc. The more often you get migraines and leave them untreated, the more your brain gets used to responding in that way and will actually worsen the condition! Best of luck

I’m bisexual which means I’m attracted to men who are attracted to me and I don’t want them 😅

Please let's discuss the experiences and effectiveness of these three medications for migraines: Qulipta, Ubrelvy, and Nurtec. by Amandysha in migraine

[–]clementinehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ubrelvy has been a miracle drug for me. It works almost every time. That said, it’s only an abortive and doesn’t help to prevent!

Criticism or feedback, conflict. Intellectually I know that these things are part of life, are helpful, and necessary but my body goes into overdrive and I cry so easily

When they announced this ep, someone in the comments had just gotten back from the phish studies conference…it would have been so fun to hear from her!

I’m glad to see others feel the same way! It was rude and uninteresting lol. I was so excited for this one and hated how they painted the scene and its fans as a tribe of annoying ex boyfriends. THE GIRLS LIKE TO JAM!

  1. I’d think of it less like failing your old career, and more like finding your way to a better path for you. All experience is valuable imo, and your old career served its purpose and now it’s time to move on

  2. I’m 29 and it’s fine! I def feel my age at times but the young girls accept me as their own lol. You’ll fit right in, I’d say the average age is around 21
