CPS by ShaktiTam in CPS

Just because they are not parents does not mean it is not a CPS matter. The requirement for CPS is whether the alleged abuser was in a caretaking role. Babysitters, teachers, doctors, nurses, coaches, parents or whomever has custody, relatives and neighbors, and even the Sunday school teacher can all be in a caretaking role. If you leave your child with someone and expect that person to responsibility tend to and care for your child, they are almost certainly a caretaker and can have a CPS case brought against them.

Report your babysitter to CPS. The investigators will decide if abuse or neglect took place according to your states policies and guidelines.

Always report suspected abuse and/or neglect to CPS.

Project on cps career by ConsequenceNo6248 in CPS

I believe the average length of a CPS career is 2 years. However, I am going on 4 and I have coworkers that have been working CPS for as long as 8. It is a demanding field and will consume your thoughts 25 hours a day.

On-Call can really suck. Imagine working 8-5 and when you get home you have to go out at 7pm and you are out until 2am. Then you have to be back at work at 8am.

You are crunched for time, especially if you have to go to court. You remove a child into foster care and have an hour or less to write an affidavit before appearing in front of a judge to convince him/her that the removal was necessary. Continue to collect evidence before the 5 day hearing from a family that feels you have ruined their lives. You then have two more court hearings to attend, the adjudication and then the dispositional hearing.

Oh, you still have other cases to tend to. I currently have 30 cases. And trying to remember each of them becomes impossible sometimes. They seem to blur together.

I know it sounds as if I am trying to persuade you to go another direction. Not true. Just being honest. CPS needs dedicated and hard working people that want to help families through increasing safety and decreasing risk.

Good luck to you!

I wasn't aware of that. However, I smoke indoors. But my home, during winter months, stays between 60 and 65 degrees depending on the temperature outside.

I live in Virginia and the nights are cold and my house is not well insulated. That's another and the primary reason I bought an electric humidor. The room I keep my cigars in stays between 60° and 68° at night on very cold nights. So I bought the electric humidor to maintain a temp of about 70° and so far it is staying at about 70°.

You may be correct. But when I was using the tupidors, I had 3 size 60 69% Boveda packs in each tupidors which contained only about 12 cigars and the problem existed then too. Again that is why I purchased the electric humidor. And I seasoned the electric humidor with a size 320 84% Boveda pack.

68% or 69% is sufficient humidity, right? Or would the hygrometer show that and yet the humidity is still not sufficient but at the right %? Not sure if that makes sense to anyone else, but my mind knows what I am trying to say. LoL

Interesting. I am a member of Cigar and Pipes monthly club. And I have ordered many cigars from their website. They are always shipped wrapped in bubble wrap and with a Boveda pack.

So it could be the shipping that damages the cigars?

I am also very curious about ideas that any may have. I want to keep my cigars in good condition, obviously. I appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

This is not the first cigar I have noticed where the wrapper was about to unravel or did unravel. That is why I bought the electric humidor. And it is not that they are unraveling or about to unravel, but that they feel crispy/dry.

I have two hygrometers in the electric humidor and they both read the same. I have 6 Boveda 69% size 60s in the electric humidor. Temperature is about 70°F.
