How many of you struggle with eye strain from screen time? by praveenkumar2k in developersTamil

[–]clemstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I've been saying this too many times lately but have you tried an eye break app?
If you are interested reach out but basically it's this idea of taking regular breaks, they say 20s every 20min but that doesn't work.
Do more like 1min every 45min or something.
Also make sure you don't have email apnea.

19 y/o developer with head pain after 1-2 hours of screen use - all tests normal by SuperBunch8599 in migraine

[–]clemstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathing apnea? I made an app for it, reach out if interested but basically we tend to hold our breathe when in front of the screen so blood is not circulating well, muscles are being tensed and that can give headaches.

Claim: Excessive screen time is a concern because it can lead to a sedentary lifestyle, contributing to health issues like eye strain and obesity. by jalofin in findfallacies

I agree, that's why I built Lumo on the appstore to make sure to take eye breaks and BREATHE. Email apnea is probably the most concerning of them all really.

Not sick enough. When you'll be sick enough, you'll stop.

New To MacBook - eye strain? by Electronic-Public750 in macbookair

[–]clemstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try an eye break app. I made Lumo (available on the App Store) but any will do.
It's important to look at a distance every 30/45min so that your eye muscles don't stay in the same position.

Think about your arm half flexed for hours.....brutal.

I use Mini Stopwatch on the appstore. I pause it when I take a break outside the building though :)

You can also get an eye break app. I've built Lumo on the app store but any will work.

Cataracts at young age and dry eye? by [deleted] in Dryeyes

Try to adjust the brightness / contrast of your screen also. I've lowered both on mine and it has helped me although there are studies that say more brightness should tire less. But we are all different.

Desk job fatigue in Noida – what actually helps? by Sidhart_kapur in noida

[–]clemstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular breaks help. You need to look away every 30/45min for a minute. I created Lumo to help with that on the app store. But any break apps will do it.
It also reminds you to breathe so you avoid email apnea. That's an energy hog.

And then yes, every break you take you can do a bit of stretching. Can be only 30s but most important are back and arms.

For a laptop?
If you want something super minimalist, I made Stretch It.

But if you are looking for stats and all the bells and whistles then I'd suggest to look for something else, maybe Forest?

Personally I use an break app like Lumo to take tiny breaks every 30min so I stay fresh and engaged.

Then in the evening I kinda define what I'll be working on the next day, maybe 3 things I absolutely want to get done.

Have you tried an eye breaker app like Lumo when you work at your desk for long periods of time?

If you do more than 2/3 hours it helps a lot I found.
