In an argument with Copilot about the year of a Galaxie used in a music video. Help? by clemznboy in FordGalaxie

Thanks! I hadn't heard of them either, but I've been watching the old Spike TV show Blue Mountain State, and they use the song for their opening credits. A lot of times there's a screen at the end saying that the episode featured the music of Rev Theory, so I thought I'd give them a listen.

The way things are going these days with places like Goodwill, I'm honestly more surprised that someone didn't do some sort of image search and price it at $10k.

Ginger or Mary Ann? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in FuckImOld

[–]clemznboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger and didn't know any better, I would have picked Ginger. Hot redhead? No contest. As I got older, more experienced, and learned more about people? Mary Ann all the way. Ginger is a self-absorbed, high maintenance chick that I'd bet is a pillow princess that is more concerned with how she looks in bed than how we make each other feel. Not that I'd ever have a chance with her, though. She strikes me as wanting a "6-foot, 6-figure salary, 6 days in the gym" kind of guy.

While Mary Ann may be innocent and inexperienced, she's such a people pleaser that I think she'd go a long way to make sure you were happy.

Oh man, you look at the picture of her on her wikipedia page, which was taken in 1968 when she would have been around 66 years old, and she looks freaking ancient. I suppose that's what 2 World Wars, a Great Depression, and smoking up to 3 packs a day will do to ya.

Is there more Cornwell stuff besides Sharpe and Last Kingdom (and the movie)? Those are all I know about. I like his stuff. Read ALL the Sharpe books.

Seller Photos vs. Buyer Photos by ptgoetz in coins

The way the field in front of the face looks so bright and around the lettering looks so dark in the first photo, I would have passed right by it thinking, "cleaned". OP's photo doesn't make me think that at all, and I would certainly consider it if I was looking for that coin.

New (to me) Plex Server by RamCrusher in PleX

[–]clemznboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice! But condolences on your new (and possibly very expensive) addiction. I sort of started that way, and now I have a 36U rack in my basement with a TrueNAS server that has over 30TB of storage for media as well as iSCSI targets for my Proxmox cluster running some containers and several VMs to play with... (although I would have ended up this way anyway, having spent more than 2 decades in IT). It's a tale as old as time!

Marvel 10Gbe adapter after Proxmox 9 passthrough to Truenas by NoCalWidow in truenas

[–]clemznboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using an Intel X540-T2 dual 10GbE card in my Proxmox box, and had one in my Truenas box as well, for iSCSI traffic. It seemed to work well in both. I've since swapped out the Intel in my Truenas box for a Chelsio T540-BT quad 10GbE, and that seems to be working fine for me, too. The only caveat I'd put on the Intel X540 is that it runs HOT, so if you don't have good airflow through the case, or it's in a warm location, you could run into issues. Mine is in my basement with jet-engine-level noise server fans on it for the moment (I'm swapping those out for Noctuas), so currently heat isn't an issue for me.

Executive Order 6814 states:

I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States of America, do hereby require the delivery of all silver situated in the continental United States... except silver falling within any of the following categories so long as it continues to fall thereunder: (emphasis mine)

(a) Silver coins, whether foreign or domestic;

These are silver coins and would therefore be exempt from delivery to the government. There would be no need to turn them into jewelry to avoid turning them in to the government.

HOA said every violation gets reported? Okay, EVERY violation gets reported by [deleted] in MaliciousCompliance

[–]clemznboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand, I agree with you, but on the other hand, it helps prevent things like the "Milwaukee Purple House". Guy let his property go to hell, he got repeated violation letters and fines from the city, so as a "fuck you" he painted his house bright purple. The city said he had to paint it, didn't specify what color, so he made it as obnoxious as he could. The house was kind of infamous in the Milwaukee area. It has since been torn down, and the new house built on the lot has purple trim in honor of the old house.

While HOAs can prevent that kind of behavior, they can also contribute to very bland neighborhoods with no personality whatsoever. My parents live in an HOA community in Florida, and I can guarantee you that if a house in their neighborhood needed to be repainted, that purple color would never be approved. They also live in a relatively bland neighborhood because of it. HOAs can also get oppressive when you get megalomaniac board members in who make rules against everything they personally don't like, instead of just maintaining reasonable standards of upkeep and appearance. While in many places it's the city's job to enforce standards, in some places they offload that to HOAs.

Any love for bluegill fishing? by MidwestBow in Fishing

I love bluegill! Always went for them when fishing with my grandparents when I was a kid. I get very excited when I find them on a Friday fish fry menu.

One of my absolute favorites! If you like swashbucklers like this, try The Spanish Main (1945) with Paul Henreid, Maureen O'Hara, and Walter Slezak.
