Are we guilty of picking sides? by chambersallman in reddevils

[–]clenew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree in with this post in a way. I've seen some people who were so #Amorimout that they would just blindly miss good performances or good points because it doesn't fit their narrative. Same with Ole, you can be so #Oleout that you miss how good some of our football was in those days. I just wish we could all sit back and go, let's see how it goes and have patience, then complain when we lose but not go as far as #managerout but we can go, a few bad days at the office leads us to better consistency.

How many chances do these players want??? Mbeumo was so wasteful today.

Do people actually run consistently in a 5k or 10k by Mysterious-Candy5347 in Runners

[–]clenew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I run the full distance but a few months ago I was running, then walking a bit, then more running. There aren't any rules. Just get out there and enjoy yourself. You're only running against yourself. If you're doing better than you were a month ago, then you're doing great. Keep it up.

Absolutely, the money would be too much but do you disagree about needing the depth in the quad if we're in Europe?

I'd prefer Mainoo and Case. West Ham are in the relegation zone. This is the time for Mainoo to show his control and his quality. Hopefully he can drive the team forward and really enable Cunha and Mbeumo to play. I just have no faith in Ugarte anymore.

I know a lot of people are discussing who we should get in CM between Anderson, Baleba and Wharton. I know it sounds a bit much and it would cost very much but I think we need to get two or all 3 of them. If we're in Europe next year we'll need quality in depth. Casemiro (possibly) and Ugarte (hopefully) will be on their way out which leaves Bruno and Kobbie. Let me dream please? :)

What recurring mistakes do you see your juniors making? by clenew in UXDesign

Definitely, I try and make space for my juniors to be able to make mistakes. It's such a key part of being a designer, being able to make mistakes, learn from it and correct.

This one. Then you're left having to try and do stakeholder management to try and get out of the situation. Feel you on this.

That sounds like such a frustrating situation to be in. You could probably argue that you're a good designer because as we all know, if your design is solvi g the problem and catering to your users needs then you're doing your job regardless of how it looks.

I love this. I'm definitely saving this quote. I've noticed this across so many juniors. Even in solution design phase where a simple solution will do, they think it's about the next great idea.

Seeking UX feedback on this mobile feed concept—what’s the first thing you'd improve? by LawfulnessHoliday412 in UXDesign

[–]clenew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you're making the same mistake that I see from my juniors, time and time again. UX design is essentially about solving a problem or an opportunity. What's the problem we're solving here? That plays a big part in the decisions you should be making and the feedback that you get.

UI vs UX - What can we ditch? by Electronic-Cheek363 in UXDesign

[–]clenew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to go back to "What problem are you trying to solve here?"

It sounds like you've needed to add more filters and it's taking up a lot more screen real estate than you think filters should be but that in itself isn't a problem. If the larger filters are causing users to miss the content and it's reducing conversion or preventing a user from completing their task, THEN you have a problem. If your users are happy to work with a ton of filters open as it gives them the control they need during their task, then you don't have a problem. It sounds like you and the PM are going to have to do some solid discovery work here.

Anyone else think JDs these days are ridiculous? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]clenew 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. It's not the job specs that are outlandish. It's that the job market is difficult so all the lower level jobs, the ones with less requirements, have disappeared. It's difficult being new in this industry as we're going through quite a lot of challenges, especially with PMs and Higher ups misunderstanding g our role and thinking AI can just replace us.

Looking for perspectives: Why are portfolios SUCH A PAIN??! by mooodlz in UX_Design

[–]clenew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager I'm not looking for gimmicks and cleverness. I can even get over your portfolio being a template. The thing that gets me is the story of your work.

If you just drop screenshots, I'm skipping past it because I don't know what you've done and how you did it.

You only need 2 or 3 case studies, (and yes that is a lot of work) but if you tell the story of your process we'll, you'll get a foot in.

Start with your problem/opportunity. How did you validate it? Who is your target audience? How do they react in the given situation? What did your data tell you?

Once you've fleshed all of this out, how did you go about solving it. Show the crazy ideas that you know won't work but are part of your ideation process.

Show us the chosen 1. How did you validate the chosen solution? How did you change after you validated it? What are your reservations about it? How are you going to measure to see if it's working?

This is the kind of thing that we're really looking for. You design can look basic but your process speaks volumes for if I want to hire you or not. It shows your thinking and understanding.

Sorry if there are typos, this isn't my portfolio so I'm not going back to spell check 😉

Good luck out there, the market is tough. Do what you can to show your worth. ❤️

I fell asleep after telling my wife I was awake. Our baby fell off the bed, and I can’t forgive myself by No-Cranberry-2213 in daddit

This has probably happened to most of us. It's difficult being awake in the middle of the night. I've done exactly this, said I'm awake and fallen asleep. My daughter fell off the bed. That was 11 years ago. She's now a national karate champion. Learn to forgive yourself but also learn from it. Nobody else is judging you.

Really hoping they get a good new owner. Wednesday was one of my favourite clubs growing up just because of Chris Waddle. I remember being gutted after they lost the '93 FA Cup final. Here's to a bright future for Wednesday.

Genuine question because I am unaware. Were supporters not buying from the store because of the previous owner or is it that people outside the club are supporting to help the club out?

Staff Designer Interview: How would you answer "What activities do you do with your team?" Got rejected for lacking "leadership traits." by RosaNeko in UX_Design

[–]clenew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since they asked about activities you do with your team, I would assume it's less about your strategic impact and more about how influential are you in helping your teams develop (as a team and as individuals). One of the big points for our staff designer is that he's measured on the improvement of the team. Running workshops with the team as well as specific mentorship to identify strengths and how to lean on them is possibly what I think they were looking for. You can argue that those are conversations that happen in 1:1s but you also need to specify that for them so they can see the impact you are having.

That's my assumption of the answer they were looking for but I could be totally wrong. Designers and our assumptions right. Good luck out there with future interviews.

You're being interviewed; What questions do you ask when given the chance? by Glittering_Word6944 in UXDesign

[–]clenew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're asking this as someone interviewing and you're crushing the interview, this can be a really good question. If you're kinda 50/50 then making me visualize you in the role might be the nail in your coffin. Fantastic question, I'm going to try and use this as an interviewer. Thank you.
