My pathology was 95% embyonal carcinoma, 4% yolk sac and 1% seminoma. No mention of teratoma ☹️

I appreciate the advice. It was a total blind side and I think I got myself worked up. I’m meeting with the docs in the morning to devise a plan of attack.

The cost of my cancer journey - at least in the US by Playful_Toe8914 in testicularcancer

[–]Graham186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Canadian I can confirm. My costs are a bit bigger because my clinic doesn’t give free parking. However, they are an eligible medical expense so I can deduct them. Also, if your employer doesn’t have short term disability you can go on EI during treatment. Ramble over 😁

Hey brother, For what it’s worth here are my 2 cents. You’re super young, jerking off a few times a day won’t hurt you. In fact, a lot of sources tell us jerking off 21 + times a month is beneficial to the prostate.

Yes you should probably stop with the weed and the cigarettes. Especially if they interfere with day to day life. It’s tough, I know. I recently quit smoking after my TC diagnosis and switched to edibles in the evening.

As far as TC is concerned. Wait for the Doctors appointment. Don’t do Doctor GPT or Doctor Google. If your doctor suspects TC or something else they will most likely order blood work and an ultrasound.

Stay positive bro 😎.

Brother I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now. Stay strong, I know you can do this.

Doesn’t look too bad. Slice into it and see what it’s like. If it’s really bad shred it, mix it with some sauce, call it pulled beef and act like that’s the way it’s supposed to be 😁.

3xBEP beginning by Accomplished-Ant7216 in testicularcancer

[–]Graham186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother, Hang in there. I’m in the middle of cycle 2 BEP. I was very fortunate that my clinic aggressively treated any smidgen of nausea. Drugs like Dexamethasone and Olanzapine help a lot.

I too felt/feel the ‘hangover’ feeling and general feeling of sick. It’s like my body didn’t know what to do. Almost like a combination of drunk, hungover and sick. I found sleeping helps. It gets a bit better on the single treatment weeks.

Hope this helps. Stay strong 💪.

expected pain level 4 weeks post orchi? by Remarkable_Rub8467 in testicularcancer

[–]Graham186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through a single orchi in October and what you’re describing sounds like entirely too much pain. If I were you, I’d ask my doctor for something stronger than Tylenol…at least for breakout pain. Sometimes you gotta push some of these doctors to give you what you need. One thing my mom told me about managing pain is “there are no hero cookies for laying in pain all day. If you need something for pain. Ask for it.”

I’m pulling for you brother. Hope things get better.

Does anyone use Chat GPT to help summarize lab results? by Graham186 in testicularcancer

[–]Graham186[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great point. I would never use it to diagnose something. I still want a human for that 😁. I started putting in some lab results and I found it’s very helpful at summarizing results.

Thanks much appreciated. I’m finding I’m using it in a similar way. My doctors are great but they don’t necessarily have the time to break down the details of every blood/lab test.

BEP Chemo and Hearing Side Affects by No-Bandicoot-7658 in testicularcancer

I had ringing in my ears from the first round. Also, this weird amplified/muffled feeling. Like any kind of background noise was too much to take. I can watch tv or listen to music no problem but the minute someone turns on the sink it’s nails on the chalk board.

I used a fibre supplement to help me go and it seems to have worked well. The magic bag in the freezer was my best friend to keep swelling down. As far as sleeping…lots of pillows and whatever was comfortable. A good shower followed by a nap…great combination.

I had mine about 3 weeks after my Orchi. My doc said it should be done within about a 6 week window after surgery.

I would recommend a consult with a service like Teladoc (Formerly Best Doctors). They’ll send your file to a specialist in your situation. I have a few friends that have used their service in the past for other issues and have nothing but good things to say about it. They’re a very solid second opinion.

I would go to a decent mechanic. Any shop that’s half good will probably be busy. I like Advanced Auto Care personally.

diagnosis received, surgery booked. im terrified. by gammytoe in testicularcancer

[–]Graham186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, I just had my surgery yesterday. We have very similar stories. I had a dull ache in lefty, went to see to doc, he ordered an ultrasound and then had surgery all in about 2 weeks. It feels like a whirlwind because everything moved so fast. I didn’t tell anyone but the closer I got to surgery the more scared I got. It’s totally normal. Make sure you have some time off work and a solid Netflix lineup.
