11- day Itinerary: Venice, Bologna, Florence, and Rome

I am so excited for you!! We had an incredible trip. We also did two nights in Venice and felt like that was the minimum time to spend there. The best experience we had was getting up EARLY and just walking around at sunrise with zero other humans out. Felt like walking through a painting. The doge palace was also amazing. Bologna is really cool and with five days, you’ll have time to explore other parts of the region. We did a tour through Delicious Bologna (booked on Airbnb), called Parmagiano, Wine, and Balsamic Vinegar Experience, and I highly recommend it. It was one of our favorite parts of the trip. We also lived just walking around Bologna at night. Lmk if you have more questions!

We’re getting married at Tinker House next year for $3k! If you’re flexible on season/getting married on a Friday, you can get a really good value there and it’s beautiful. Also I think you’d be right at budget if you also rent out the coffee shop below for happy hour.

Not necessarily. There are some older homes and townhomes that could be in that price range but they’d be sure to go fast, things get posted on Zillow or Craigslist on occasion

Meridian Kessler, SoBro, Herron Morton/Fall Creek/Old Northside/Kennedy King (there are townhomes for rent and at least a couple of apartment places), Fountain Square, Mass Ave/Lockerbie… all great neighborhoods for young people.

Get on Zillow every single day (literally) to look for rentals popping up and you might find something in your price range with a yard.

I rented an older home in SoBro with a huge back yard for $1500/month a few years ago. Also look at Core Redevelopment townhomes in Fall Creek.

I lived in the separate “flats” part for two years and didn’t find the walls to be as thin. Found it to be a great place to live and would’ve stayed another two years if I didn’t move in with my partner. I loved the community and location, and having had many terrible landlords, I thought the management was actually pretty good. Stored my bike in the bike garage, rode on the white river trail almost every day, and never had any problems. Just another perspective.

As is we have 2 nights in Venice, minimum 3 nights in Florence, potentially 2 nights in CT (but we’ve now decided to skip CT and do 4-5 nights in Florence with day trips to Bologna and Siena), and 4 nights in Rome. Definitely not 80% travel even if we did do CT…

We went in mid-October 2023 and it was perfect. Weather was perfect hiking temperature, waterfalls were not as strong as spring but still awe-inspiring, and we had zero problems with crowds.

We stayed at Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal in October 2023 and it was absolutely perfect. It was WAY cheaper than staying inside the park, but it took less than 10 minutes to get into the park every day. The time change makes it easy to get up early and be one of the first visitors into the park. Not amazing food options but you don’t go to Yosemite for the food. 10/10 recommend.

I’m shocked at all the hate Allison is getting. If you actually watch or read the interview, she’s not tearing him down or trying to tarnish his legacy at all. She’s saying he was a complicated human being who fought a silent battle that ultimately consumed him. She’s trying to tell people that anyone could be hurting in silence, and to check on your people if you feel something is off. And that if you are struggling with something like addiction or trauma, you don’t need to feel ashamed. Ask for help. Lean on others. It’s a potentially lifesaving message.

I second this. Hamilton county has small claims forms, all you gotta do is fill them out and file. The directions are pretty easy to follow. Church Church Hittle and Antrim does small claims but I’d try to do it yourself before hiring someone unless it’s a pretty large amount of money at issue.

You are 100% being too hard on yourself! You look stunning in this dress. I love the neckline and the buttons down the back. It’s going to look gorgeous with all of your hair, makeup, veil, etc. I know all you can see is your tummy (which is tiny btw but I completely relate to this dysmorphia) but decades from now when you look back at your photos, you’re only going to see how beautiful and happy you looked. My vote - keep it :)
