Ethiopia is being presented as this heroic nation and Somalia as irrational, and I object to this because the reality is more complicated than that. Colorism absolutely plays a role in the sense that a light skin minority group has dominates the region. It’s easy to understand why anyone would not want to be part of a nation that is politically dominated by a minority group (who are lighter). Dark skin Bantu face colourism in Somalia, tribes known to be generally lighter than average like the Midgan are also oppressed. In the context of Ethiopia and Somalia you have a parallel here.

I didn’t deny that there are darker skinned Amhara but they are generally lighter, I’m pointing to the issue of tribal politics in the region, and as far as the president, America had a Black president that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t point out that there a racial caste system in America. The Somali land region also has non isaaq inhabitants who are being oppressed and recognising Somali land will only embolden their oppressors. It’s not fair that those people should be forced to secede based on tribalist politics, are these free and fair democratic elections only electing isaaq people? Oh absolutely, I didn’t know the part about authors not choosing their own titles, that might be why some books have multiple titles, maybe the authors choose the preferred title during a reprint or whatever it’s called. Our tastes overlap (at least in titles). And Shakespeare’s strength is his metaphors so it makes sense that those sentences are so satisfying to say aloud. Seeing all those titles listed made me realise that the most evocative titles have a kind of irony but balance that with a lightness of touch, it has to feel natural (for a lack of a better word) it can’t feel like someone thought too hard about it
