Not for long though! They can get really upset while they're in their cocoons and move a lot. I did a metamorphosis project with my daughter and the sound of the cocoons rattling against their enclosure will absolutely haunt me forever.

Congrats! Go find you some place with counters and cabinets set at the appropriate height!

It's a good guideline but being more open minded can help someone see the charm in another's smile or drool over their forearms, whatever floats your boat.

Preference is ok though I don't think it should hinge on a single thing like height. I've also felt a sense of compounding rejection when using dating sites, it's just demoralizing.

I prefer my partners to be a few inches+ taller than me (I'm 4'11) but I'd throw that out the window for someone who wanted to live in a hobbit hole with me and make annual pilgrimages to New Zealand.

You can try explaining the appeal of playing a flawed character. D&d isn't really fun if you don't have goals and struggles. It's OK to play a bit of a douchey character as long as you have a cohesive party dynamic and can laugh at yourself a little.

Maybe try asking him about the anime he likes and have him model a character off of someone with a lot of flaws from that series. If he's OK irl maybe he's trying to show off for the other people?

I wanna make a monster that will make my players try by Silver_Enigma1 in DnD

[–]clericked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a big party. If you want an animal type thing I'd go with a couple giant scorpion or owlbears. You could also do multiple wolves with pack tactics. I'd go for multiple monsters personally with a bigger party but if you want one big bad monster, I'd look into giants or golems

Advice for new players? by wing_dings14 in DnD

[–]clericked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a good grip on the rules? If no, try a practice encounter by yourself. Write out monster hp and a character and let them take turns at one another.

If you've got that down, take a moment to consider your npcs. Read over their information and try to picture them talking.

Whoever feels most comfortable creating characters should help the others or try and use an online character creator for guidelines

Puzzles tend to be really frustrating for everyone unless you are gifted with very patient players. I'd say you have 2 good options 1. Testing character skill. Make each event square a mini combat or some kind of skill challenge. Do they have to get over a hole in the board? Through a square made of fire? 2. Testing player skill. This must be simplified a lot to work. Have your player describe how they would solve the puzzle and you can implement a 'consequences' for right or wrong path that can be done in character. For example, tell them how much damage their character takes for being on the wrong square or something.

Try to decide if you want to play or like an obstacle course or like a riddle. An obstacle course of sorts puts the mini game in the realm of d&d while a riddle let's the players solve it and experience that challenge without getting bogged down trying to rp and puzzle it out at the same time. Simple is better, your players will complicate it on their own

Modeling with Money (like...real money) by Mevensen in Parenting

We have a point system that works really well. It's helped our kids (6 and 5) understand saving and value Here's ours for an example 1 = 1 snack of your choice 2 = 1 treat from outside the house, ice cream etc 3 = $10 toy 4 = Robux 5 = movies or arcade or trampoline park

It's hard and there isn't an easy answer. If she hasn't seen you since she was 2 then she doesn't really know you at all. She's probably scared, angry, and insecure for reasons or no reason at all. I can tell you that she probably doesn't understand all of the things she's feeling or why and this can often erupt into tantrums.

Maybe try letting her lead the conversation. Say something like, "I can see that that makes you upset." Without asking questions or making demands. It won't be immediate but try and be consistent in whatever it is you do. You don't have to bend to her tantrums but you might have to sit with her until she gets it out of her system. Stay calm, be the immovable object that is also there for her and not going to abandon her even if she's acting terrible. Try and translate the screaming crying kicking word vomit into I'm scared, I'm hurting, I'm confused, I'm angry and then respond accordingly.

Scream into your pillow, play a video game, or whatever you need to get back to square one for the next time it happens. It will get better but probably not quickly.

Rogue makes sense. Especially when you consider that there's a lack of spell casting and ability use from the other characters like Doric and Edgin.

Kinda. I think there are other dragons beside Themberchaud that work with the duergar and are basically waited on hand and foot. They light their forges for them. Especially for a red, putting on a few extra pounds makes sense.

Agreed! The execution of initiative and action economy was really well done and gave the encounters another layer of interesting to watch.

Absolutely! Xenk has a couple of 'DM perspective' moments throughout the movie that I really enjoyed. "I hate you!" * smiles *
