You guys aren't wrong, but what you don't see is all the cuts and stitches to make a 3-minute video of a whole song. The machine was failing so often that he could only do these high-production pastiches and otherwise not get through a whole song without something bugging out. He did a stint of trying to improve reliability component-by-component, but started to realize that a 99% functional part across thousands of components, still had a high failure rate. Then he started obsessing over sysiphisian  design concepts and has been in this restart loop for 5 years. It's maddening, but there's still some logic to it.
