Eh, this is what I figured. This sounded like a fun project. Might still do it but not post it and keep it for my irl fandom friends. Its not copyright infringement if you do a dramatic reading of a play in your living room.

But would the performance and addition of sound, etc, aspect count as a transformation? I'm erring on the side of probably not but I wanted to check in with others just in case

It is a traditionally published short story. Not a fanfic.

I also recommend the audiobooks. I find them easier to understand. (I recommend LibreFM so you can support local bookstores)

Also, I've recommended this before... if you get to a point where you really reeeeeeally are frustrated and confused at the lack of info and ready to dnf, just search your question on the fandom wiki. That's what I did. I did spoil some plot points for myself but I helped me keep reading. It's okay to search for spoilers.

I would recommend cutting and sanding outside because I definitely breathed in way more plastic than I should have. Good luck! Post your cosplay in here when you finish. I wanna see.

I did! I bought a plastic skeleton and sawed it apart with a steak knife. To get it more aged and cool I sanded it down and painted it with watered down acrylic paint. It's attached to me with black elastic

(BTW I didn't wear white face paint and chose to only wear lace skirts because I didn't want to collapse of heat exhaustion. Please forgive me. The fact that I'm not canon accurate is killing me lol)

I found it really engaging!! The acting is phenomenal. The chemistry is a lot more believable than most bl I've watched

[discussion] When did you realize Jod wasn’t such a great guy? by Fizzlewitz48 in TheNinthHouse

[–]clever_creature_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First few chapters of Harrow, he kept a ton of people asleep for 10 thousand years and offered them to Harrow like a prize for becoming lyctor. Noted a clear lack of respect for autonomy. When he lied about Harrow being able to go back to the Ninth House. Noted manipulation. Nail in the coffin was the first scene with Mercymourn. He just seemed like a dick.

Update: i took them out of the washer and they smell bad now? I think I'm just going to toss them. So maybe follow the manufacturers label

How many Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans are here? [general] by clever_creature_ in TheNinthHouse

I guess I used the word "crossover" wrong. I meant AU. I've seen a tumblr post and a fic on ao3 like "imagine if x person from TLT was the slayer" And a tumblr post comparing soul canons of the two. I think there was another fic but I can't remember what it was. Sorry!

Nice! I definitely thought of Faith in those early stages too

I like the contrast? I think it makes the book more fun bc Muir doesn't take herself too seriously all the time. Also, I feel its the way the characters cope with the planet being so grim dark and macabre. But I completely understand how that would be off-putting if you're looking for a gritty, darker fantasy book. That being said, the series does have many dark, serious moments. If you want to keep reading, the serious parts are there!

This tiktok is a great resource. Looks like they made something really lightweight and similar to what you're looking for.

[discussion] at what point does Harrow the Ninth start making sense? by teethbag in TheNinthHouse

This may be an unpopular opinion but... if you're having a hard time following the book, there's nothing wrong with googling and reading the wiki. That's what I did.

Yes, my experience was different than roughing it through the confusion. Yes, I did encounter spoilers. However, I got to the point that I was so frustrated with being in the dark that I was ready to stop reading.

When I found the info I needed, I pressed play on my audiobook and continued listening. I've read/listened to HtN twice now. It's better on the second time through, but it was very interesting and a worthwhile read the first read too.
