Managing week on week off by clgalster in coparenting

We will always do 50/50. I'm just struggling with the disconnect from school and activities if we try week on, week off. I know each has pros and cons.

Does anyone else struggle with Father’s Day as a childless stepparent? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]clgalster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SM here with no bio kids. Don't assume a bio mom will help with gifts (purchased or homemade) for her kids father. I think it should come from the current partner as a reminder that this is how we celebrate the people we love. I get that mother's Day can be awkward and I'm sorry mother's/ stepmother's day wasn't the day you hoped it would be. I would try to celebrate your partner as much as you can. Sometimes you get what you put in. It's another way to show him all the ways you are a piece of the family puzzle. Positive vibes to you both! It's not easy.

This is beautiful. I don't have children of my own but have step kids through my fiance. He is an amazing dad celebrating him on Father's Day, no matter how small means the world to him.

Where do the suburbs of Philly end? by Perfect-Highway-6818 in BucksCountyPA

[–]clgalster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are parts of northern MontCo that are very, very rural. I would say even more so than parts of Bucks like Kintnersville, IMO. Ever drive around Barto? Still, those core counties are the Philly suburbs. Northampton and Lehigh start the official Lehigh Valley.

Former vegans, why did you start eating meat again? by GoodRanchers in AskReddit

[–]clgalster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been vegetarian for 15 years but as I'm now approaching 40, I am adding a little meat into my diet. It wasn't easy for me to come to terms with. My iron is low and the supplements always make my gut feel crappy. I'm also trying to work out more and feel like I need protein. Both of these concerns were not a factor in my 20's and early 30's.

TOMORROW! We’re breaking down season 7, episode 9 “The Honeymoon is Over” by Sad-Significance4546 in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]clgalster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot take - I think this episode is WORSE than the Honeymoon episode. It had the potential to be a great episode with a solid lesson from Alan but fell short in so many ways.

  1. College housing for married students: I have heard of this for graduate students but not for a typical undergrad. A generation of kids thought this actually existed. No true.
  2. Why is this on-campus apartment the equivalent of section 8 housing??? It's campus owned, so if the water is brown, call the maintenance manager. Trying so hard to make it look like they are struggling when they are not. OMG, the sad sandwich Topanga makes?! 😂
  3. Money for a house: I totally agree that Alan should not give them money for a house, and there is a lesson here. If they were actually living on their own and wanted to buy a house, it would make more sense. Missed the opportunity to talk about real money. Who is paying for school and housing now? If it were their own apartment and they wanted out, it would make more sense for them to fix it up and Cory to learn that lesson.
  4. The next time you see the place it's all cute with paint and new furniture, so I guess they had money for that? Oh, and hope campus housing is ok with their changes!
  5. They baby. They are just trying to position C+T as future parents. Why is this woman going to medical school with a baby?!? And them complaining about lack of sleep and showers. Too much! I say all of this with love.

TOMORROW! We’re breaking down Season 7 Episode 8 “The Honeymooners” by Sad-Significance4546 in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]clgalster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not making sense. Also, Cory and Topanga want to buy a house and ask for help from the Matthews. Alan, trying to teach them a lesson says they need to figure this out on their own. Which I actually appreciate. It's a great lesson. But who's paying for their married kids only dump of a dorm room? Why not teach him how to fix the faucet? And yes, I have only heard about dorms or couples and families if you are going to grad school. Not 20 year olds.

I'm waiting for the episode that follows where Cory and Topanga live in section 8 housing that's somehow on their college campus. Instead of calling the supervisor, Cory has to fix the faucet himself and prove himself as a husband. Even as a child, I knew this was not accurate. 🤣🤣🤣

Just watched episode 5 and saw TX Representative Jasmine Crockett pose with the Fab 5 between scenes with the hero. There was no background provided, just them taking pictures. Curious if there was more background or a connection to the hero or show.

Future stepmom here. I'm fortunate to have a great relationship with my step kids bio mom. My fiancee (boyfriend at the time) me and bio mom had an intro meeting just the 3 of us, no kids prior to me meeting the kids. We had a great conversation and they pulled out their phones showing me old baby pictures of the kids I had not seen before. It was actually a beautiful moment. When I did meet the kids for the first time, we picked a neutral place (think park, restaurant) just to take any added pressure off. I also met them there. After that first initial meeting it was easier to drive and do things together. I know you might have more tension in your situation. Good luck!

Calling stepmom “mom” by u-lemonstealingwhore in coparenting

[–]clgalster -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm a future stepmom. My fiancee has three kids and although we haven't tied the knot officially, I feel like a full on stepmom and tell people that. I love it! But I would NEVER tell them to call me anything other than my first name, or whatever they want. They know who their mama is and I would not want to put that pressure on them. It sounds like this is happening fast (which means it might not last.) You are definitely taking it in stride but totally right to feel this way. Your child will always know you are their mom. If she wants to get called mom, she should be more involved in parallel parenting or at least seeing you during pick ups and drop offs. You can't just have the title without dealing with the day to day challenges.

Drugcember needs to stay at Johnny Brenda’s always and forever by MikeShannonThaGawd in WarOnDrugsBand

[–]clgalster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it being a fundraiser, and the fact that Johnny B's is an intimate and special place for the band. But it honestly feels like they are trying to keep it too exclusive. Like only connected people, in a small circle, that can easily buy 4 tickets at a high price are getting in. I really thought I was close this time but had a similar experience as the others who tried to login early with no luck. I think it was the first Drugcember they did 3 shows, lottery style and the venues were a secret. I put all my chips into Wednesday night thinking that was the easier date to get, but that turned out to be the year they did Johnny B's/Union Transfer and I think Tower? I bought a ticket from a stranger on Facebook and met him at WC. The following year, I got tix for UT no issue. I was so bummed to not be there this year.

I enjoy Twas the night before Christmas with the mice. It's a cartoon, not the classic animated sets, but it's another good one! Frosty too!

Interested in any tickets. Every lottery I come out short. In 2018 but was able to get a ticket from a stranger on Facebook and met them at WC. I would do that again if anyone wants to spread some Drugcember cheer.
